When you own such a popular franchise as Sonic, you'll have less to worry about people not trying it out. SEGA keeps pouring Sonic titles in the App Store and Google Play, so if you've managed to keep track of them, here is one that follows the same endless runner formula.

Sonic Forces: Speed Battles is perhaps the first game in the series that contains loot boxes, an aspect that has been embraced by many publishers and developers who want to keep players engaged long after they've completed the content (I'm looking at you EA).

Also, unlike other titles in the franchise, Sonic Forces is a PvP multiplayer game first. You'll be running and compete with real players around the world. The game includes iconic characters that players can unlock and play with such as Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rogue, Omega, and Vector.

As it happens, you won't be able to play as long as you want unless you pay to unlock wait timers using the in-game currency which usually drops in loot boxes or can be bought with real money.

Players win loot boxes when they race against each other, but these can also be bought with Red Star Rings. Another type of currency – Coins can be used to upgrade your newly unlocked characters and improve them with new abilities and powers.

We're not sure if Sonic Forces: Speed Battles is a pay-to-win mobile game, but judging by the fact that much of the game's content is hidden behind paywalls, it's as close as it gets.
