Results: do you like the Galaxy Note 8?

So, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was revealed yesterday — a powerful top-tier smartphone with a curvy Infinity Display front, a glass back, dual cameras, and the unique S Pen. Designed as the best Samsung can offer, it rocks all the bells and whistles seen in the past and then some. It also has the hard task of washing away the shame that the Note 7 brought on and, at first glance, seems to be well on its way to doing so.

It's an awesome-looking handset with a rather steep price to boot. We thought we'd ask you whether you are impressed or underwhelmed by the new phablet. Here's how that poll went:

Galaxy Note 8: do you like it?

Meh... underwhelmed

I think you are the idiot. This phone compared to the note 5 is a pretty big update. And yes, I had the note 5 before I got the s8+ so I know. Still do have it put up.

You keep your Note 5 if you really have one unless you're a troll. You sure the S8+ have a SPen and if you even got a SPen you sure it's going to work on that screen? The S8+ have a dual camera or a 6 gig rams? unless you find one in China. If you cant get those on the S8+ then No its not an S8+. Hope you find an SD Card slot on that Note 5. I wonder what you would say about iPhone 7S to the 7+,7,6S+,6S,6+,6?

Your Note 5 is nothing but the S6 with a pen, and the S8 and Note 8 are better devices. I enjoy laughing at your ignorance though. So keep it up, it's entertaining me. I might just grab some popcorn.

And, apparently, one certified retard who thinks he knows better than others what they should buy. Congratulations.

and s-pen and all those awesome features of S8..

yeah I think thats the problem. You get incremental updates from the 'other flagship' so when they're bundles into the new Note, they're not new anymore. It's a pretty big change from the Note 7 but not much of a change from the S8.

With the exception of Bixby, the design and losing the physical home button, there's not that much difference between the S8/+ & the Note 7. They had to put a lot of the Note 7 features in the S8 because of the Note 7's untimely demise. Had that not happened, I'm quite sure the Note 8 would've had a lot more features.

The note8 is awesome, coming from a note7 and a current s8 plus user it awesome. The problem is ppl use to Samsung might not be blown away by the note8 even those we all know its an amazing phone and does almost everything. Ppl new to Samsung or never own or used an s8 plus will be amazed and understand why so many wanted the note7

Epic camera refers more to the primary camera of the Note8, not the the secondary one.

On paper it looks pretty good. Obviously I've not tried one in person. Fast lenses, OIS on both. What could go wrong? :-/

I planned on purchasing one, but I just don't find it exciting enough to shell out nearly $1000.

This is the first phone launch I have seen so many people talk about the price. I think both Apple and Samsung will soon see sales hit because of high costs. Other electronics have all been going down in price and cell phones get more expensive every year. Will come a point the bubble will burst and I think that time is coming soon. I ordered the Note 8 but have to agree prices are getting out of control.

"cell phones get more expensive every year" Not true for all manufacturers. Chinese phones are offering very competitive prices for high-end flagships. Just because mainstream devices are getting more expensive doesn't necessarily justify their price. My Xiaomi Mi Note 2 $500 6gb ram Snap 820 128gb storage DAC/ Hi-Fi audio 4000mah battery Great design Buttery smooth performance

Can't get these though from T-mobile, Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. Snap 820 is already a dated processor. You can a S7 with that processor for $342. Hardly cutting edge tech. All phones have a DAC... Funny people pay for so called high end DACs and then the amp/ preamp section around them are garbage so the DAC is a big waste. For portable use the DAC in pretty much any modern phone is fine. Background noise anyplace you are going to listen to a phone is going to negate the value of a better DAC.

Two years ago a Xiaomi flagship phone would cost less than $300 at launch. Your point is?

It's not, and you're taking a wise decision by not wasting your money on it. I lobe the phone, but it's definitely a $700 max. Yes if you compare it to the pricing of other phones it would like it deserves the $1000, but thinking about you spending $1000 is a stupid idea imo.

Yea maherk. Would be down if it were $700. The new camera is dope and the s-pen is pretty cool, but i just don't see what justifies it being so much more expensive than the S8 Plus at this point.

Exactly. These few new features are definitely not worth paying that much for them. If Samsung keeps on going with this business model of increasing their prices every few months, then I'm definitely looking somewhere else by the time they release the S9. Not that I can't afford it, but I feel like they're screwing us with their pricing and they are happy about it.

Pretty sure they are doing this because the iPhone 8 is supposed to cost a arm and leg too otherwise I think the price would be a bit lower

Even if there was no iPhone 8, Apple and Samsung would've still upped their prices, because and sadly, they've become so arrogant due to the blindness of their fanbases. They know no matter how much they price their phones, people will line up to get them.

Apple have and will get away with it because they are a monopoly in the IOS phone space. Samsung on the other hand has literally hundreds of competitors offering similar or close to similar specs for less than half the price.
