Nokia Lumia 929 for Verizon leaks out in more pictures, aluminum global version tipped
Verizon's upcoming Lumia 929 will sport a special aura around it, as it will be the first fairly compact 1080p Windows Phone. If you have been green with envy that Verizon will get exclusive on the 5" puppy with Full HD screen, Snapdragon 800 and 20 MP PureView camera, color your face something else.

Insiders are claiming for Nokia Power User that there will be a global version of a 5" Lumia with 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon 800, and the venerable 20 MP cam, which will sports an aluminum frame, similar to the Lumia 925. Now the only thing of concern is whether the record four HAAC microphones will make it into the smaller body, or we'll have to make do with three or four.

Granted, even if we had four, stereo recording quality likely won't be from the rank of the one we'll have in the Lumia 1520, where the mics can be set much further apart, but we are still hoping to get four. In the meantime, marvel at some additional leaked imagery of the Lumia 929 heading to Verizon, and imaging that chassis clad in aluminum in the meantime. Oh, and if you want to see a brief hands-on of the device, head over to the Youku source link, nobody is pulling down videos there apparently.

No amount of specs can make a phone great if it doesn't have a decent OS. Microsoft really needs to stop sitting on its bum and start bringing more features to the WP8 table. They only entered the mobile OS market a year later than Android, and look where they are now...

It came 1.5 yrs after tht....the only reason android got fame is because of making best hardware ahead of everyone.remember s2 hype? Also cheap devices like htc explorer and galaxy young.
Nokia and apple never did tht for normal consumers

I gotta admit about being customizable os....the reason it attracted devs

Yeah, the hardware's indisputably great, but the OS is severely lacking to (what I would hope are) power users on this website. I don't enjoy the lack of a notification centre, nor the inability to change wallpapers.

Lack of seperate volume profiles (for both type of audio output and type of audio),
inability to set custom tones other than ringtones,
inability to create custom playlists,
no forward button in browser,
inability to scroll through pop up list of suggesteions and history in browser,
inability to use SD card to store PDF files,
lack of notification center,
that absolutely absurd 'other memory storage' problem,
slightly lengthy process to create contacts,
.... etc.

no forward button in browser, -> not used often
inability to scroll through pop up list of suggesteions and history in browser, -> true, needs that.
inability to use SD card to store PDF files, -> what's the point when you can't move certain apps on android to SD card? Maybe you should worry more about Android than WP.

The rest all will be coming with the next update. Hope you'll find some more reasons to hate WP by then. So that each time you open your mouth WP will come and shut your mouth.

keep dreaming about what?

Android camp until Oct: "WP's hardware is from 2010. We've quad core and octa core.!"

Android camp now: "-__-"

"All these WP fans say "oh don't worry it will be added in the next update"" -- Yes they say that cos that's the truth. Every OS gets some new features and bug fixes with new updates.

And lemme guess...you aren't excited about KitKat..because android already has everything and has nothing to look forward to..

you're such a hypocrite...just like most of the android fans here..closed minded zombies who ironically love android cos its open..!

And the best feature of an Android phone as per its fans here on Phonearena... "We can change our phone's wallpaper..!!!" LMFAO..

"So that each time you open your mouth WP will come and shut your mouth."

First of all, i didn't open my mouth to state those facts. Its your eyes, through which you read my comment. You could have looked away easily, unlike sound.

Second, i don't need to worry about Android since i don't use one.

Third, i use a WP8 device.

Stop trying to defend MS. They can only improve (since MS has common sense lacking) if users point out their dumb mistakes.

Never used multiple volume profiles, even on my s3/s4. The person in our office that does have it, is always adjusting the sound anyways. Its a 'fun' idea but seems like just that...imo that is.

custom tones? again, not something I go to the store and ask the associate if the phone supports...call me old school

Custom playlists? of what? Music? If music, have you not played with xbox music?

Forward button? while nice again, with recent I can go back and forth. Nice but it is not like I cannot go back and forth here. I could go for swiping left-right to go back and forth.

Pop up list? why? it is in the recent section...why would I want a pop ups?

SD card would be nice, but at the same time, skydrive/local. I probably would carry more on my phone if I had a SD card, but what would it be full of? music? pics? Sure I can go for this, thankfully the 1520 has it. Then again I don't remember being without internet on my device, xbox music currently lets my phone have 4500 songs that are my pc synced to the cloud (no the pc does not have to be on to use this). Plus that same list, of old cd's from 1990's are now available on any computer that can access the web.

Notification center? ummmmm......your entire screen is a notification center. Every live tile is a notification center. If anything live tiles and its updates kill the crap out of notification center. My first 3 months I missed it, then realized...holy crap I have tiles that update stuff.

Other memory problem? Is far nicer than cache clearing, and memory dumping and forcing app closure. Can it suck resources? Sure no more than any other android, but without the constant memory issues. I hate teching droids cause of this.

Create contacts lengthy?
People--new--(info)--save 4 steps really?

Really_ Notification Center. What drug are you on. Icons, audio & visual notifications.

lacking OS please elaborate where android has the upper hand on this. MS Office (Student) out of the box on a smart phone.

The app store really lets be realistic for all the apps that Android & IOS have compared to MS. I'd like to see a poll as to which ones are really be downloaded. I would bet that those apps being downloaded are in line with the MS apps now. So realistically we aren't that far behind as far as quality & current apps.

Bottom line Android is like MS 6.9xxx & IOS well nuff said.
They are all good platforms as of now
My opnion is that WP is the smoothest & in my fam of 4 I have em all to compare.

So if your trollin keep movin & keep what cha got & stop wining

Hmmm... Opinion translates to whining to some.
Maybe if people like you recognize faults with WP8 instead of supporting it blindly, MS might wake up and start adding features and make it to be ACTUALLY as good as you dream of it to be.

People do recognize its faults, hence win8.1 for the phone.

Did android come out of the box with 4.3 day one?

How about android devices still sold where you cannot delete your email you actually have to master reset the phone. No joke. You can't even change the password! Thank god for droid 4.0 right?

No OS is perfect. Right now droid has the potential to become the next windows pc. People will soon hate it for virus, malware, ads, popups, different ui's, bloatware...the list goes on.

Yes while I own a 925 I also own a note 3.

Notification center is coming. Can change wallpaper on lock screen. Same complaints over and over but never even used a WP. The advertisement and negative campaign is getting old!

What's not important to you is important to others. It's 2013 almost 2014 and you still can't change the wallpaper... That's sad.

You could change wallpapers on Symbian long before Android was even born and what happened to Symbian..? Android had a 2 yr lead on WP, so stop comparing. If you want to compare then compare iOS with Android.

Its like telling a small kid that he only has 28 teeth whereas you have 32..jeez give it some time, he'll grow the extra two pairs...

I love phones with wallpapers, covered by icons. Does a wallpaper good...

Plus my photo app is a constant streaming photo displayer.

The only time im looking at the wallpaper is in lockscreen....oh hey mine does that.

The phone is great and the OS is great. Notification is arriving but the tiles still notify so it is not as if one is flying blind. I agree, the people complaining are just spewing talking points. If they actually owned a windows phone they would realize how it in many ways heads and shoulders better than the iPhone and the malware riddled and fractured Android.

I challenge any fanboy hater troll to use wp8 for a month and come back here and tell me how inferior it is. That is all. Its a great stable is that works awesome. Wall papers? Who gives a crap, I saw gdr3 on the 1520 yesterday when my Nokia rep came in. Text ringtones for contacts are there too. So stop hating, its not like you own google. Plus not everything should be for everyone.

Nokia is going out with a bang! I love my 925, but a 5 incher with the 1520 specs would go down very nicely indeed thank you very much! Had Android for years...bored of that! Too much choice, too much fragmentation. Forever having to factory reset my phone, regardless of make, model or specs! Been on WP for a while now. Yes it lacks a few things but some of these are coming. Agree that MS should pull their finger out and get these much called for features launched asap. The future of WP will depend on how quickly they develop the platform. Nokia are coming up with the goods in the hardware department, it's time for MS to step up and match that effort.
Fandroids will always be Fandroids I'm afraid. MS / Nokia could launch a beautiful device with the best specs ever and everything you could ever want from an OS, and Fandroids will still find something to slag off. I'm just glad that I saw the light and tried WP8 for myself. I even considered trying iOS at one point as I love some of the aspects of iOS7, but Nokia have turned my head once again. Thanks Nokia!

Funny how Android users love to gloat about the features on their phone. When quad core first came out the Android apps couldn't even use it. It was just a status symbol that drained the battery. Of course it does need all the power it can get because the OS is a drain.
