Nasty bug with the Samsung Fascinate requires you to unlock it in order to dial 911

If you've recently installed the DL09 over-the-air update for the Samsung Fascinate and had to get in touch with emergency services, you're probably taken back by the handset's inability to dial 911 after pressing the emergency call button on the pattern unlock screen.

Samsung came out to inform users about this nasty bug that can hinder you from getting a quicker response in calling 911 in the event of an emergency. Granted that you can still punch in your pattern unlock and launch the dialer to call 911, it clearly requires a little bit more time than just hitting that emergency call button on the unlock screen.

If for some odd reason you think that you'll need to get in touch with emergency services in the near future, you may want to disable the pattern unlock feature until Samsung works out a bug fix for it.
