Motorola DROID Turbo finally getting Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update

Motorola DROID Turbo owners rejoice, as Verizon has just decided to deploy the long-awaited Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. After one month of testing, the update is starting to hit more DROID Turbo units in the United States.

While Verizon hasn't yet refreshed the support page of the DROID Turbo, some users have already reported that the update is now available for download. This is an OTA (over the air) update, so you just need to wait for it to arrive on your phone.

If you own the DROID Turbo, then you should be looking for firmware number 24.81.5.en.US. Also, this seems to be a fairly sizable download, as it will take up to 25 minutes for your smartphone to upgrade to Marshmallow.

We don't know yet whether or not the update includes the latest security patch from Google, but we do know it comes with Now on Tap, Doze mode and Wi-Fi Calling features.

Obviously, these are just a small part of the new features and improvements in the update, but we will most likely know more when Verizon updates the phone's support page with a full changelog.

The DROID Turbo is a 2-year old smartphone that will probably not get another update after Android Marshmallow. Luckily, there are other ways to bring Android Nougat on your phone then to wait for Motorola and Verizon to deliver it to you.
