BlackBerry Curve 8520 to get August 5th launch at T-Mobile
Last week, we reported that Wal Mart was planning on launching the T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8520 on August 5th. The report stated that the big discount retailer was getting a two month window of exclusivity. The reason for Wal Mart's apparent good fortune came from the myTouch 3G which T-Mobile was expected to release on the same day. It might have been too much for the carrier to bring two new smartphones to market on the same day, thus Wal Mart was to get the 60 day window to sell the Curve 8520.

But it looks like minds were changed and the idea of an Android launch together with a BlackBerry launch on the same day at the same location is not too much to handle. You see, the guys and gals at BlackBerry Rocks got their hands on some leaked promotional material that shows an August 5th T-Mobile launch for the BlackBerry Curve 8520, which will replace the Curve 8320 in the lineup. The first 'Berry with an optical trackball will still be available at Wal Mart starting August 5th, although it will not be on an exclusive basis. And one important note for those who were looking to upgrade their current T-Mobile handset and get the Curve 8520 on launch day-upgrades into the new Curve will not be available until after 10am Pacific Time on the 5th of August. Pricing is still an unknown.

The 1997 Tmobile act signed by Clinton requires that Tmobile gets certain phones first.

Because T-Mob's coverage sucks. Don't you realize they all have UMA on them? Props to Blackberry for showing love to T-Mob
