ZTE Axon 7's Android Oreo update will bring a near-stock UI, improved battery life

ZTE USA today announced that owners of the Axon 7 smartphone can now register to be part of an Android 8 Oreo beta program - in order to test the software update before ZTE can publicly release it.  

Launched as a flagship phone back in 2016, the ZTE Axon 7 initially ran Android 6 Marshmallow, and was updated to Android 7 Nougat in 2017. According to ZTE, following "a request voiced by consumers," the Android 8 Oreo update will bring a near-stock Android experience to the Axon 7. Apparently, users aren't too fond of ZTE's own MiFavor UI that the phone originally came with, so they should be glad when Oreo lands with a near-stock UI.

Thanks to the upcoming Android Oreo update, the ZTE Axon 7 will also benefit from improved battery life, faster boot speeds, picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, and more enhancements. Unfortunately, for now, ZTE doesn't have an exact release date for the public release of the update.
