Samsung announces December security update for its flagship smartphones
Like clockwork, Samsung has readied up a new maintenance update for its flagship smartphones as part of its monthly Security Maintenance Release program. The update package contains Google patches up to Android Security Bulletin - December 2016, in addition to 15 of Samsung's fixes of various vulnerabilities and exposures.
Their severity is ranked between Low and Medium, with problems such as buffer overflows, code flaws, exception handling, and system crashes being addressed. Vulnerabilities such as showing of notifications supposed to be hidden on the lock screen and remote mobile hotspot activation were handled as well.
The December security patch should be released as an over-the-air update for Samsung's leading devices very soon, so keep an eye out and manually check for software updates from time to time.
