Hong Kong store is selling a Google Pixel 3 XL three days before the device becomes official

Has there ever been a phone that leaked as much as the Google Pixel 3 XL? And things got a little worse for Google after a shop in Hong Kong that sells mobile devices, Wah Phone Digital, obtained a unit three days before Google is scheduled to introduce the new Pixel 3 line. The shop is selling the phone for the equivalent of $2,027 USD.

The phone checks out as legit with the IMEI coming back as belonging to a Pixel 3 XL. Not much info can be gleaned from the box outside of the model's 6.3-inch screen size, the "Just Black" color option belonging to this particular handset and the phone's "G013C" model number. Inside the box is a pair of USB-C earphones, USB-C-to-3.5mm and USB-C-to-USB-A dongles, a USB-C-to-USB-C cable, and an 18W USB-C power adapter (although this box contained an Australian plug).

According to a CPU-Z run through conducted by Engadget, the Pixel 3 XL carries a 3732mAh battery, a 6% hike from the 3520mAh battery that powers the Pixel 2 XL. CPU-Z also confirms that the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform is under the hood. Other testing shows that the screen carries a resolution of 1440 x 2960 (an aspect ratio of 18.5:9) and the Pixel 3 XL's own camera app reveals that once again a 12.2MP camera graces the back of the phone. While an 8MP camera returns in front for selfies and video chats, this time there is a second sensor in front for wide-angle selfies. The Active Edge feature is back, allowing users to summon Google Assistant with a squeeze, and Android 9.0 Pie is pre-installed.

Will Google pull a rabbit out of its hat on Tuesday? Some are calling for the unveiling of a large-screened Google Pixel Ultra with an un-notched edge-to-edge display, and Google is reportedly benchmark testing a mini Pixel code named "Bonito." The Made By Google event takes place on October 9th starting at 11am ET (8am PT, 15:00 GMT). It is being livestreamed over the Made By Google YouTube channel and Instagram account.
