Google publishes September security patch changelog, but factory images are still MIA

HMD was the first company to release the September security update for one of its Nokia smartphones, but Google should be fast behind. The search giant has just published the Android Security Bulletin for September 2017, which contains all the fixes included in the update.

Usually, the changelog was published along with the OTA files and factory images for the update, but this time Google will not release them. The Mountain View company announced that Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus Player, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P devices will be receiving the September security update as part of the upgrade to Android Oreo.

The update has two security patch level strings, thus allowing Google to provide Android partners with the flexibility to more quickly fix the vulnerabilities that are similar across all Android devices.

The September security update contains a bucket load of fixes that have been detailed by Google on its official website. The most severe of the issues that have been addressed in the update is a critical severity vulnerability in media framework.
