BlackBerry KEY2 to launch in Canada on July 6th; pre-orders begin tomorrow
While the BlackBerry KEYone seems to have taken consumers by surprise, the BlackBerry KEY2 appears ready to separate a number of consumers from their money. We've seen a number of people posting on our comments section and on social media that the device (built by TCL with TLC) is going to be their next phone. And that is despite a price ($649 USD) that many consider steep for a phone powered by a Snapdragon 600 series chipset (it's the Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform that you'll find under the hood).

Still, the unit does sport 6GB of RAM, 64GB of native storage, and a dual-camera setup is on back for the first time in BlackBerry history. Don't forget the physical QWERTY keyboard (with 20% larger keys) and the 3500mAh battery that helps provide up to 48 hour battery life. Android 8.1 Oreo is pre-installed.

While the phone was unveiled earlier this month, there was no release date announced for North America. But today, BlackBerry Mobile revealed that the KEY2 will launch in Canada on July 6th. The Black version of the phone will be available from Canadian carriers Bell, Rogers, SaskTel and Telus ranging between $95 and $100 Canadian Dollars with a two-year contract. Pre-orders start tomorrow at Rogers.

The unlocked silver variant will be released next month, available at a price of $829.99 Canadian Dollars. You will find that model online at Amazon.ca, BestBuy.ca, Walmart.ca, Staples.ca, Blueshop.ca and Visions.ca.

Knowing that the Canadian release date for what BlackBerry Mobile calls "The newest and most-advanced BlackBerry smartphone yet" is July 6th, we probably should expect the U.S. launch of the KEY2 to take place around that date.
