iOS Display Recorder makes it to the App Store
iOS Display Recorder has somehow miraculously made it to the App Store and it’s stealing the spotlight from an app with the same name so far available only on Cydia, the jailbreakers’ app catalog. It’s probably another case of a sleepy reviewer letting it go past Apple’s security gates and more particularly the doubling functionality warning, so we don’t expect it to last. Cupertino hasn’t allowed even apps taking screenshots into its ecosystem as it argues that the feature already exists on iOS.

But if you want to record still images and video of your screen, now is the time to get iOS Display Recorder while it lasts. The application costs $1.99, and while it doesn’t really output really great video in terms of smoothness (it’s more like stitching screenshots together), it’s still better than nothing. Amazingly, it also works without the need to jailbreak your device.

At the same time, Ryan Petrich, the developer of an app with virtually the same functionality and name is filing a complaint with Apple over the fact that this new app actually made it despite copying from his original creation.

The app is right now available on the US and Canadian app stores, all at the link below.
