Vonage outs an Android VoIP app, says its rates are 30% cheaper than Skype, Fring smiles
Vonage, which made a name with its funny TV ads, and the vow to take on the home phone providers with its affordable VoIP offerings, today outed the Vonage Mobile app on Android Market.

We had Vonage Extension there until now, which was more limited, as it served as a supplement to your Vonage home phone service. With Vonage Mobile standalone app now you can call or message the other users of the app for free with supposedly "HD quality" voice.

What's more, Vonage Mobile offers an introductory offer to make free calls to phones in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, although this is capped at 3000 minutes per user - still good.

Vonage outs an Android VoIP app, says its rates are 30 cheaper than Skype, Fring smiles
Vonage says its VoIP international calling rates are 70% cheaper than the carriers, and 30% cheaper than Skype on average, based on the 50 most popular calling destinations. In our comparison chart of the VoIP apps (on the right), we found out recently that it is not that hard to beat Skype in terms of rates, but the real low-baller was Fring. A quick glimpse through Vonage's calling rates revealed that it sometimes beats those of Fring, but only if you are a subscriber to one of its monthly calling plans.

Skype sucks and is a major rip off. I decided to try Fring after reading PhoneArena's article on other VoIP's and their respective rates. I must say that I am quite impressed with the low international calling rates and, more importantly, the call quality. What's more, Fring does not have those "unpublished" connection fees like Skype. No wonder my Skype credit kept disappearing; sometimes the connection fee was more than the total cost of the call's talk time.

I hate Vonage. THEY RIP U OFF. When we got Vonage. They say YOU NEED high speed INTERNET only to use their CHEAP plan. I'd say FU Vonage, return it to them then got FIOS. I won't even BOTHER download their app. THEY MIS LEAD PEOPLE.

I‘m sick of the too many VoIP’s in the market. They claim so much and the output is duuhhh! It doesn’t work for me though! Does anyone know a quality standard VoIP that runs great on my iPhone 3G? I'm using FriendCaller currently. They are better than any other in term of pricing. Offering great voice quality but cheap Calls to mobile phones and landlines. Works on 3G. Supporting Group Video Calls is a plus as I need to commute for my business purposes. You might try as wellhttp://fc.vc/infographic-fc
