Seven new pictures of the Galaxy S8 in glossy black leak out

Posted: , by Daniel P.

Back when reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities tipped that the Galaxy S8 may come in no less than seven colors for the glass chassis - gold, silver, bright black, matte black, blue, orchid, and pink - we were wondering if the "bright" black means something glossy and akin to the Jet Black piano lacquer finish of the iPhone 7

Well, with no less than seven new pictures of this shiny black Galaxy S8 leaked out, we'd have to say it's pretty similar, if that thing makes it into a retail unit, and is not just a prototype.

Since the phone is not powered, we can only see a black slab with curved display sides and corners, the Samsung logo on the back, a camera lens with adjacent flash and heart rate sensor, as well as the finger scanner on the other side of the camera. That coincides with most of the credible pics or renders we've seen so far of the Galaxy S8, so there is every chance that glossy black chassis lovers will have their wish fulfilled with the S8.

It's cool how you can't tell where the screen begins or end's, but one thing I never really liked was how the fingerprint sensors on most phone have different reflective surfaces and hence colour to the rest of the phone. Look's alright though

It wont because Samsung doesn't paint their phones. IN fact I don't think Samsung has ever used paint on their phones.

Their poly-carbonate phones use pigments in the material. Not a painted surface. The S6's or S7's weren't paint either, but use a thing layer of colored material under the glass.

But you'd know this if you'd ever owned a Samsung phone!

What about the GS3 blue model that some ppl reported chipping of the back over around the camera? Was that not painted on?

Pretty difficult when you're dealing with glass and common sense.

I will throw my bank account to samsung for this, but then again, i heard they are actually making one. God, if only this is true.

Common sense isn't common... though.

Glass can be made matte using Hydrogen Flouride. The process is called etching of glass.

No it isn't. Because Samsung doesn't paint their phoens. They use a colored film under the glass.

So making it matte would be easy actually.

Just use a matte film for the color and the sides would just be the natural aluminum color! Like it was on the Note 7, S7, and S6's.

Rumor is, they're going to. If they don't, buy a skin. Not hard at all.

You can't tell where the screen begins or ends. Finally! I have been waiting for this for so long. Black bars begone.

Not really... There will certainly be a front branding at the bottom bezel, as seen in some leaked photos.

I think you will see front branding in North America and Europe for sure.

Evleaks specifically said that the bottom bezel will be too thin for any branding and it'll definitely only have branding at the back regardless of model or region

Verizon is on the back of my S7..... but for some reason the carrier and company branding doesn't really bother me

Never bothered me either. I don't really get why some people are so upset by that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It makes phones look tacky IMO. Like they are trying too hard to be noticed. That's personal preference though, and I imagine most people find that "OCD" level AtD annoying.

Because they just want to complain. It draws attention.

But it could be, because VZW really made theirs overly gross and big in the old days.

The latest phone designs simply prevent this.
