Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition coming to Verizon and AT&T

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition is coming to both Verizon and AT&T. Before you get excited, understand that this is not the stock Android "Google Edition" of the flagship Android phone that was introduced at Google I/O. The developer edition of the phone will still have TouchWiz, but will feature an unlocked bootloader and 16GB of native storage. Again, don't expect stock Android or more timely OS updates with this model.

While pricing was not disclosed, we expect to see the Developer Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 tagged in the area of $650. That is the price of the Google Edition of the phone, which Verizon customers won't be able to use. If you're with Big Red and want to have your Galaxy S4 bootloader unlocked officially, the Developer Edition is your only solution. AT&T customers have the option of buying either the "Google Edition" or the "Developer Edition" of the Samsung Galaxy S4 if they want an unlocked bootloader out of the box.

No release date has been listed, but we would expect that the phone would be ready soon considering that it has already been posted in Samsung's online store.
