Samsung Droid Charge delayed?

Samsung Droid Charge delayed?
Verizon seems to struggle (and struggle hard) to release its LTE-enabled handsets in timely manner. First it was the HTC ThunderBolt, then the Motorola DROID BIONIC was postponed until the summer (it's almost certain that the phone which is to be launched as the Motorola DROID BIONIC won't be the one we saw at CES, but the model internally known as Targa), and now Engadget is citing an "internal mail", which allegedly says that the Samsung Droid Charge is delayed. Duh.

According to the leak, Verizon hasn't set a new release date for the handset which was scheduled to launch today. Interestingly enough, the reason behind this postponement is cited as "unexpected delays" - make of this what you want, but it's really strange that Verizon is delaying a highly-anticipated handset in the very last minute.

As of now, it's unknown whether this has anything to do with the ongoing LTE outage. The good news is that it's reported Big Red's 4G network is gradually regaining conscious in different states.

What Engadget? Realy? Realy? You have people posting and e-mailing you that the phone is pulled off the web-site and you still have the news store saying it's coming out today. Who screwed that one up?

Funny, on the way to work this morning I heard two radio commercials announcing the Droid Charge is on sale today at your local Verizon store. Guess they couldn't pull some of the ads quick enough!

I would guess that the last minute delay is a direct result of the LTE network outage. Once the LTE network is back up, they'll release the phone

When are u people going to wake up and smell the coffee?? LTE to cdma transition is a huge problem for VZW rite now. Even the data cards are failing to transfer from cdma to LTE and back properly. Tmobile and att made VZW rush to get these LTE devices out way before VZW had the devices and network ready, causing catastophic problems for the LTE network . Im certain they will get all the issues worked out, but when? Who knows. Its the transition from 2g - 3g - 4g and back thats the problem. Im sure the devices are awesome but getting them to work correctly is the problem. Lets figure it out VZW and fast!!!

Wow really? Att made VZW rush?! First off LTE has been in the works for a while now, no one rushed anything. And second, ATT hasn't done a damn thing. They are using T-Mobiles " 4 G " signal. Why do you think they are trying to buy them out? If anything ATT rushed to go and use T-Mobiles signals because they were falling behind, seeing how they were the only ones with no 4G yet.

These guys are retarded. "timely manner"?

They are delivering phones WAY before originally anticipated and who cares if we see a couple of delays along the way. As long as they communicate to us, nobody can fault them.

I work for a Verizon Premium retailer and we actually got our shipments in yesterday(wed apr 27). I was thrown off today when I was told I wasn't allowed to sell it. It must be because our 4G has been down the last few days with work being done to it. thats all I got for ya

Is that really a good idea? I would check on the internal communication to make sure if I were you...

Bah, just got the offical memo. We have to hold them with no ETA for release. Had to pull down all POP and displays for it. It's in our 5/1 ad, so this could get messy.

I'm just about ready to give up on VZW all together. I've been with them for years, but I'm sick and tired of watching people on other networks get their phones while we wait...and wait...and wait. And to add insult to injury, they keep pulling the phones back at the 11th hour. What a remarkably poor way to do business!

so its obvious this is the cause of the 4g connection issues.... thats what my email said when i was told not to sell it today. even phone arena in this articule resulted to saying "duh" in regards to that. so if i was made aware and phone arena see it as an obvious result, why post two seprate storys? couldnt PA just had posted one that says samsung charge being delayed as a result of 4g issues. this flooding of bias storys PA puts out against verizon is outragous. another example for you.... "then the Motorola DROID BIONIC was postponed until the summer" ... uh.... lol wasnt that when PA had originally said it would be out.... by the end of Q2. yes it was. we should be thankful verizon is waiting to release a phone till its ready to be reliable. verizon has some of the most intense testing and approval precedures before releasing a phone.... thats more than we can say about a network that released an iphone with huge reliability issues such as antenagate

i cant get over how biased this site is.... sure verizon is having issues and that should be reported but how you go about doing it is where i have a problem. one story would have been sufficiant. also.... back to the bionic... never did verizon release a date for it. they said by the summer which is when its expected... you cant say its postponed when no dates have been changed. now this site reported that an extremely reliable source said it would come out in a matter of weeks in mid march.... maybe thats how they can get away with saying its been postponed. but your not going to fool intelligiant people with your rumored articules that you later report as factual information being debunked. not happening. also you make it seem like the bionic being a different model is a bad thing when actually its the same phone with updated specs and 13 megapixel camera as oppossed to 8. the sheep and stuck up fools can fall for this..... but not us with any sliver of critical thinking.

Just spoke to my Verizon Rep, he says it's a short term issue. He doesn't know much more then that. I have the Charge in my upcoming ad and he said they should be out by then.

To the Tar-Mo rep that posted they are selling them, you should probably remove your message. There is a bulletin out to hold them back. It's a stupid thing to get in trouble over.

Can you blame Verizon for delaying the release? Why release it on the same day that 4G goes down?! That would be stupid and do you know how many unneeded returns would have been made? Casual customers don't realize software issues, they want the product to work and to work right. They don't care why it doesnt, they will return it and that would make Verizon and the phone itself look bad. No it was a good choice to delay it until the 4G problem is fully resolved, no point in buying a phone if you cant walk out of the store and use it.
