Leaked Verizon document reveals all known issues with the Fascinate
Oh, the marvels of instant information access, corporations must really hate it! Someone from Verizon has outed the internal document that carriers cobble together from customer complaints, and their own testing procedures, on issues present with the Fascinate.

It is a rather big list, but if you own a Fascinate or are planning to buy one, we are sure you will be interested in what issues might pop up out of the blue. At least until the first software update for the handset arrives. Some are pretty mundane, some are really surprising, in a "how'd they miss that?" sort of way. It looks like the GPS issue that plagues the rest of the Galaxy S gang, has not passed by the Fascinate. They call it latency, but we all know what it is. We post them all on a few pages for your viewing pleasure:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bluetooth

Known Issues

Car Kit Connect:
In some rare occasions when connected to the 2009 Mercedes Benz AMG C63 car kit the car kit will announce “Connect…. ready…. connect…. ready…. connect….”.
Short term work around: Power the device off and then back on and pair with the car again
Planned Resolution: A fix for this issue is under review for inclusion in a future MR.

Backlight Timeout:
When on a call using Bluetooth and the backlight times out you have to unlock the screen to end the call
Short term work around: There is no short term work around for this issue
Planned Resolution: A fix for this issue is under review for inclusion in a future MR.

Car Kit Contact Sync:
When syncing contacts to a 2010 Toyota Prius, only phone contacts and not EAS contacts sync.
Short term work around: There is no short term work around for this issue
Planned Resolution: A fix for this issue is under review for inclusion in a future MR.

Calendar

Known Issues

Alert Notifications:
There is no option to change the Calendar alert notification
Short term work around: There is no short term work around for this issue.
Planned Resolution: A fix for this issue is under review for inclusion in a future MR.

Call Waiting Caller ID

Known Issues

Blank Screen:
If you are on a call and a second call comes in, you get the correct Caller ID information. If you answer the second call, the caller ID screen goes blank and does not show any caller information.
Short term work around: There is no short term work around for this issue
Planned Resolution: A fix for this issue is under review for inclusion in a future MR.

Display

Known Issues

Soft Key Backlight:
The backlight on the 4 bottom buttons (menu, home, back, and search) only stay on for 5 seconds. These do not correspond with screen timeout settings.
Short term work around: There is no short term work around for this issue.
Planned Resolution: A fix for this issue is under review for inclusion in a future MR.

looks the same as all the other android phones. i know some whiny little fanboy whos feelings got hurt will come here saying all phones have this many issues, no, they dont. most are half this long, some only 1/4. these phones are terrible. hardware might be good (unless its from motorola), but the OS is complete shit. android sucks.

Android sucks compared to what? Its one of the best OS out there. Yeah, many of these issues are simply inconvenient and should have been fixed before ever hitting the market but they are not deal breakers. Considering all the things this and other android phones can do, this really isn't all that terrible.

Did you just say that not only does Android suck, but Motorola's HARDWARE sucks? Yep, you've just outed yourself as an ignorant piece of shit.

woah woah woah! guys! remember this is a samsung phone, their touch screen phones are crap remember? and that stupid touch wiz/android mix is ugly! just buy an incredible. the only problem my friend had was that was...well wasnt software...he broke the screen hahah but the cool this is....wait for it....built in memory! no more exspensive phone status and still need atleast a 64 mb(yes mb) to take a picture!

thats why he used unregisterd user status to keep himself anonymous, but, this does seems like an extensive list. HOWEVER, atleast the issues are being addressed prior to release to get a jump on the fix, AND they have admitted the problems rather than cover them up and keep shoving the phone down peoples throat. AND YET STILL, they are offering a BOGO on the device! Well, I was thinking just a bumper would have satisfied most customers...(sarcasm obviously) Its clear "derp" wants to get a rise out of Fanboys but it looks like he already batting for the other team, so rather than fuel his need to depress ill simply point out that he is an idiot.

I am not loving Android on my X. I have to say alot of those issues seem common to the Android line. Maybe the "free" "open" Android OS isnt that great or "free" after all to the manufacturers? How much money will Samsung/VZ be spending fixing those issues?

At what point did a 3 page list not become a deal breaker, it is crazy to say o yes my phone can do all these great things but its day to day operation is lacking and unfinished. if android is so great and it can do all these things why are there still all of these little issues. this was okay 2 years ago when the os was new but what is the excuse now.

I think you still see a lot of these issues because manufacturers are all trying to make the next Sense UI instead of going with stock Android. That's why there are far less issues with the Droid then there are with many of the other devices that came out after. Of course no OS is perfect, but just as all the iOS users say, it wouldn't sell so many if it were not a great device. That same logic can be applied to the Android OS as well.

Wow...that list is royally messed-up. Whateverman is right, though...stock Android has few issues. I'd still take this thing over many other phones, though.

Considering the original Iphone had a 25 percentish failure rate over the first two years of its existence, I'd say a laundry list of minor software bugs which can probably be fixed ain't so bad. I'm actually surprised, really. It used to be that Verizon had laughably short "known issue' lists, entirely ignoring the long list of problems that phones like the EnV2 had. So phones with complicated software have bugs. It happens. Blackberry has all sorts of crippling problems. Palms (even recent) have issues too. Windows Mobile? Don't get me started. My X is working fine. A little laggy once in a while, but all computers do that. It's frozen...twice, when I was being really hardcore with it. Otherwise, no issues. I'm betting that when the Droid hits the two year mark there'll still be millions walking around with it. How many people do you know who have the original Iphone still?

main issues with iphone was mainly design and user fail. Signal? i have a case on mine. still get signal loss when i grip it, but im left handed and never get that problem either way. Not durable? DONT DROP IT SMART ONE! ITS GLASS ON THE FRONT AND BACK! No customizing? do what most people do and jailbreak. android has rooting. yes, android is less strict about customizing, but they do have restrictions. android is indeed NOT a fail. Verizon is. i'd have verizon if they weren't so expensive, had decent phones, and i could call and surf at the same time(not really but had to say that hahha. i mean come on! my uncle has a droid and over wifi he cant do that! weak!) the only good phone thats android that verizarape has is droid 2. thats it. No, you dont have the right to rate no low because ive used my share of phones, form iphone 3g to blackberry 8900 to blackberry bold to iphone 3gs to htc g1 to htc mytouch to nexus one to htc hd2(weak!) to iphone 4, and im obvoiusly stuck there(microsim). dropped calls? i dont get those cause i have t mobile. they didnt invent the dropped call and neiher did apple---ATT did. Yes, you do have a point though. original iphone is obviously way below the droid. but the droid is getting slow now. and the 3g....i fix phone. doing any software on 2g's and 3g's is like sitting and watching the paint dry. so slow!!!!! but 3gs and droid are tied speed wise, some people take iphone for 2 reasons, fanboy(or fanboi if youre gay) and branding. other than att services in settings, there is absolutely no att branding at all. droid has their 3 trillion verizon apps almost no one uses(similar to sprint, but not as bad) In all this, what i am saying is i have an iPhone 4. I love this phone, ive had it for a month and only froze once(switching from pandora to facebook, while sending a friend a video i recorded and downloading an app. maybe too much aha) Screen is amazing as is the camera. i like the droid, but 2.2 is like an iphone 3g on 4.0(you know how bad that is) but droid 2 fixed that hah. Android is an amazing operating system. iOS....screw that its still iPhone OS...iPhone OS is also amazing. Both have they're flaws (Android-Force Quit, iPhone-Limited Customization), but they are about equal. And android and iphone OS didnt invent the term "issues", samsung and lg did. Blackberry though is STRICTLY BUISNESS. Not a fun OS for an average person. Sorry for any grammar mistakes, i tend to do that on laptops for some reason.

I'd rather see tons of known issues than be told there are "no" issues when there obviously are. *cough* Now with that said I really don't see why Verizon launched this phone with this many known issues, if we didn't have the X/2/Incredible I would understand MAYBE but seeing as how we have several other Android options I don't see why they would rush this out the door. Oh well, maybe that's why i'm not running any companies.

Why so many issues??? seriously???? VZW ruined a perfect phone with Bing and Get it Now! BS...This should have been just as good as the captivate if not better... Congrats to Sprint...they have the Epic. No issues and didnt screw anything thing up. GPS and everything else works great on mine so far. You figured big red woulda learned from the backflip-yahoo debacle...get it right vzw
