HTC's Jeff Gordon: the iPhone is "terribly boring"

HTC's Jeff Gordon: the iPhone is
Earlier this week, Apple reported record-breaking revenues, thanks to the fact that it sold an astonishing 74.5 million iPhones between October and December 2014 (with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus obviously being the stars here). Jeff Gordon, HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager, used this occasion to congratulate Apple via Twitter, while at the same time mentioning that he finds the iPhone "terribly boring."

According to Gordon, Apple's handset is "a boring, easy choice." He continued by saying he wants "a phone that's more unique, more personal, more stunning when I take it out of my pocket" - likely suggesting that a device like the HTC One (M8) perfectly fits that description.

Last
HTC's Jeff Gordon: the iPhone is "terribly boring"
month, Jeff Gordon said that HTC's 2015 roadmap would be its best ever, including some "huge surprises." Well, we're impatiently waiting to see if these surprises will blow us away or not. We know that the HTC One (M9), aka Hima, might not look too different from the One (M8), so perhaps the surprises are related to other products (or aren't exactly about design). We'll just have to wait and see.

Back to the iPhone, do you agree with Jeff Gordon's statement about it?

Or Gallery app which takes ages to open and lags badly... Samsung has poor software optimization but I hope they learned from mistakes and S6 will come with a new touchwiz that can be on par with Sense speed.

I've got a S5 (g900f) and I do feel lag. I had Note 3 before S5 and definitely was smoother in every department but gallery app had lag on Note 3 also and so I always use quickpic.

Its not really lag its where u put the pics SD or internal understand if its SD your having to open native then pull from SD card in external so that half second is what your seeing but also know with every new phone you are seeing faster is and your brain comes to expect the same of faster if you go back to a older phone apple or android with same number of pics u will see newer phone is faster we as humans just expect faster and faster, I remember having to wait 3 minutes for a single dial up web page to load and as CPU got faster found myself saying come come hurry up already even though its an amazing feat of software engineering

Brown? And the viewing angles are pretty good on the ultra ;)
How about premium build? Not saying the note4 doesn't feel good but it's just not on par with htc or sony.
There are many reasons to buy a z ultra over the note 4 but same goes for buying the note4 over the z ultra ;)

lol yeah the build. it's fantastic. what reasons anyone would buy that failure of a brick phone that doesn't even have a successor?

Price its very cheap. Screen size and almost all pens and pencils as input.
You get a s800 and a 6.44 inch screen in a premium case for only 250€. It almost doesn't come better than that. The 8mp is more than capable especially if you know how to use manual mode.
No lag.(big one 2)
If you look at price/quality the note 4 could pack its back. But again note 4 has allot going on for itself 2.
No flash killed the phone i guess as allot of people want it these days. Didn't bother me as the pictures i make with my phones are just for work. If i need to make good pictures for the website i use a digital camera.

The z ultra is still a good and very capable phone this year. a successor would be here this year only im not sure if its going to be in March or later as. If they did it like samsung it would be better. Flagship 1st quarter galaxy s and the flagship of the 3th galaxy note

hahahahahahahahhahahaahahhahaahhahahahahahaha so the 8mp camera on a "sony" which 20.7 mp cameras are not up to par with recent flagships beats the Note camera? lol what a c*nehead. so now you use an outdated digital camera to make up for the flash? lol. do they still produce these nowadays? been ages since I've seen one. and yeah the huge dimensions makes the z ultra a tablet. man I can't handle my dad's note 4 easily how about the oversized brick brute of yours? a 6.44 screen with bad viewing angles? did you even know about it? hey they fixed it partially with the z2 and is now "modern" with the z3 but hey it s_cks in older xperias just search a little. and I wonder why it's so cheap. I remember here it was at like 950$ 2 years ago then now it's nonexistant and few months ago it was in the 200s $. why? it's a capable tablet? yeah I'd buy it. but man comparing it to the note 4? go to h*ll bro. and hey the few lags here and there in touchwiz are now minimal and do not intefere in apps ( read the note edge 1 month review). anyways I nearly never felt any lag in any samsung I've bought maybe because I always buy their best models. I'm wasting my time here.

You should learn to read better.
I only said that the 8mp is more than capable. Not saying its better than note 4 camera.
And the 20.7 mp camera on the z3 is much more capable then the note 4's. But the superior auto mode only makes 8mp pictures. To get the best you should use manual mode.

Who said anything about an outdated digital camera?
No mobile phone can take pictures as good as my digital camera. Also if you take pictures of houses with big rooms a mobile phone won't be able to get everything right unless you have a z3(and knowing how to use it) or a lumia with xenon and even those aren't on the level where i need them to be.

If you have small hands a phablet could be to big. At least you could still get a s5/m8/z3 etc. Or go for even smaller phones.
I use a z3tc as my phone as i found the z ultra too small 2 enjoy watching movies and it's handy for work.(yes even bigger)

The z ultra didn't had bad viewing angles you should check it out if you have the chance.

The z2 and z3 both have very good ips displays but the z2 is more natural the z3 is on the colder side.(i personally like it that way as the whites look much better)

It got cheap because 1 they don't make the phone anymore and 2 the chipset and everything else got cheaper to make zo it can sell for less. A note 3 which was around 100€ more expensive then the ultra here and now you can find it for 290€ which is only 40€ more then the ultra. "why? It's a capable tablet?(should be phablet) yeah I'd buy it" lol

It still is comparable only the note4 takes the cake but that doesn't mean it can't stand its ground on some areas.

The lags are minimal in the note 4/edge but if you are used to none it's still too much on the point where it gets annoying.
So the same goes for you if you didn't had a faster device it will do the job and won't be annoying.

Bro, look at his name. You should know by then that he's a troll who lurks on people's posts against sammy. He be like "bloatware good!, stock android suck". My lil sis owns an S5 and its 2GB RAM is almost always used even after just turning on the device with little user apps installed, most are sammy's bloatware. Dafuq? That's why i use Lenovo Vibe Z 2 Pro. 3GB of RAM and only 900MB of RAM is used based off Vibe UI after booting up. No bloatware like sammy. Oh and uh, I'll just leave this here for the sammy lover (4000mah of awesomeness baby! Oh what's that? 2800mah? That's so sad.) Z ultra was released on 2013 and S5 on 2014 and Z ultra tops way better with less lag and not much bloat, even with .3ghz lower

The gallery app doesn't lag, unless you have a ton of pictures. There is nothing wrong with TW. It is why the Galaxy is the top selling android phone. In fact the S alone outsells all Android OEMs combined.

If Android has dorect access to the hrd like C+ does, it wouldn't be an issue. The fact Android is a VM makes the TW layer have some quirks.
But the complaint is moot. Because for what I get in the phone whch is less than an iPhone where I get the best of EVERYTHING, I have nothing to complain about.

You all sound like a bunch of Samsung hating pussycats. Trust me that sint what I really want to say.

The iPhone is so simple it is boring. Sure I have lots of iOS games I like, the OS overall never makes me want to pick up an IOS device and do anything. I rather grab by n ot.

Sure the apps on iOS look better, but the most popular ones look the same and on Android most do more.

Everyone's phone experience is going to be different from the next. With true multitasking you may have too many apps running that you don't even know about taking up your RAM.... hence the sluggishness. You could have multiple apps that others don't constantly running. For anyone to state that a particular phone is laggy (especially a flag ship) they should check to see how they have it setup first.

Agreed 100%. I used to own Galaxy S2 and S3, and it takes at least a couple seconds to open dialer, gallery, S planner(calendar) ESPECIALLY when all apps are cleared from memory/running apps. Unless it wasn't cleared and "closed" via home button then it will open instantaneously. HTC One however, opens instantaneously either way cleared from memory or not. HTC Sense ftw :)

They keynote will be Tim cook on stage saying
"WE HAVE INVENTED A NEW WAY TO GET YOUR FAVORITE APP INFORMATION ON THE HOME SCREEN WHILE CLEANING UP THE APPS DOWNLOADED AND PUTTING THEM ALL IN A SEPARATE SCREEN IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER".

The design of the M8 and M7 was not the problem, it was the camera, battery, UI, and the horrible call quality that i had with the M8. If you fix the camera, battery, make the UI better looking and get a better radio for calling the phone would be a top seller. If the M9 looks slick and glossy like the iPhone and they fix some issues i think HTC will have a great 2015.

Updates are another area where HTC fall behind Apple
HTC (and many other OEMs) should try slim down Sense 7 so they can update within a month, instead of taking over a few months

True, the updates do hurt every OEM that doesn't have stock Android, but the problem there is not only the OEMs but also the carriers. That's my biggest problem with Android they let the carriers do what they want.

I'm agree about the camera, it was a big mistake. But what's wrong with the battery and UI? I know some people says that 2600mAh battery is a small battery, but HTC did really do a lot to get max out of that battery - even in heavy use! I have been using my HTC One M8 all day, and I'm able to get 2 full days out of that battery, (I must say that I use the Extreme Battery Saver at night,) but still very impressed. The UI is the best skins-for-android you can get, of course Google Stock Android is better, but what is a better UI for Android than Sense?

I don't use the heart monitor on my Note 4 (in fact, I disabled the whole S-Health app). I don't use S-Voice (also disabled). Neither of those changes the fact that the Note 4 is a great device, best in class.

Smart Stay works perfectly. So does adaptive display. In fact, I don't have a single feature on my Note 4 that doesn't work exactly as it's supposed to. That's probably why the overwhelming majority of professional tech reviewers have rated it the best phablet on the market.

best phablet says almost nothing. It has 2 competitors and only 1 is from a different company. The iphone 6 plus and the note edge. Both of them are just to expensive and the iphone 6 plus has no extra features compared to the iphone 6. The note 4 has no competition. The only contenders that bring something to the table are the one max and z ultra. But those are 2013 phones with 2013 specs. The note 4 bashes them on allot of things. Lets wait this year and see if a one m9 max of z4 ultra can bring something.
