A mike for the iPhone by Brando
One of the most intriguing new functions of the iPhone 3GS is the option to record videos that was also the top-liner feature in a David Finchner directed commercial of the handset. Still, aside from video content itself, another major aspect of good quality clips is the audio track. A company named Brando now offers an alternative to the puny built-in mike of the phone that comes as an additional audio recording accessory, which can be turned in any direction. According to the manufacturer, it should provide 10 times better sound capture, plus the add-on mike is hard to inadvertantly cover with your hand as it sometimes happens with the integrated one. Voice recording and searches also benefit from the new gadget that comes with a decent price-tag ($14). It is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, 3G and 2G, although it´s the brand new model that allows making the most of the mike.

the sound comes off as "ehhh ok" but the big problem is the mic is facing a different direction than the camera so you pick up awkward sounds from off screen. Another thing is its a cellphone mic vs. a dedicated audio mic.

This is PERFECT!!! I've waited for years for phones to have this functionality. Reason being, uni lectures!! I don't want to have to buy one of those voice recorder things seperately, and it's only logical that hi-tec phones (like blackberry's etc) have this functionality. For use with voice commands etc - who cares. But otherwise, this is a very welcome edition. I should hope i can plug this into my HTC Hero...?
