Nubia bezel-less concept phone surfaces in beautiful renders
After Xiaomi's bezel-less smartphone of the future, the Mi Mix, generated quite a lot of buzz in the mobile world (although not much else), another major Chinese phone maker is allegedly working on a device with a similar, bezel-less design.
A handful of renders leaked by Chinese online publication MyDrivers show an ambitious-looking Nubia concept phone with close to bezel-less display and odd slide-out design. The display looks fully edge-to-edge, beautifully filling in the front of the phone, although if the Mi Mix is anything to go by, the final version will not be as bezel-less as these swanky renders make it out to be.
Another key difference between the two, is Nubia's slide-out design. The front panel of the phone moves down to reveal an earpiece and a front-facing camera plus LED flash combo behind it.
Nubia is also pushing customization as one of the major would-be standout features of the phone. The renders showcase a handful of interchangeable back covers, ranging from simple black and silver aluminum ones, to leather, to two types of wooden plates. The removable back covers could also point to a user replaceable battery, but there is currently no information regarding this, or any other hardware specs
The images also reveal a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack located on the bottom of the phone, volume rocker and power button on the right, as well as a fingerprint scanner on the back. Although the renders are well-made and convincing, likely originating from Nubia itself, there is no telling whether this Nubia concept will ever become a reality, and if it does – whether it will be mass-produced or just a limited run showcase like the Xiaomi Mi Mix.
