VLC for iOS updated with Chromecast support, lots of fixes
The folks over at VideoLAN added experimental Chromecast support to their VLC app back in January, but it took the developers more than six months to deliver it in final form to iPhone and iPad users.

The latest update for VLC brings Chromecast support for iOS devices, as well as several bug fixes. Also, the new app should feature improved audio playback quality and the option to view 360 videos by moving your phone. You can find below the complete list of issues that have been fixed in the update:

  • Fixed a bug where files on your phone were not displayed in VLC;
  • Fixed a regression preventing the download of certain media files via http;
  • Fixed a regression where downloaded files might disappear;
  • Fixed a regression where users couldn't log into Google Drive.

Last but not least, VideoLAN mentions the update includes some stability and performance improvements when decoding H.264/H.265 in hardware. If you're using VLC on your iOS device, you can already download the new update via App Store.
