German website heise.de seems to have secured a OnePlus 5T prior to the device's official announcement on November 16 and has already posted a brief camera comparison between the 5T and its predecessor, the OnePlus 5.

The big news here is that OnePlus has reportedly ditched the telephoto camera at the back, but fret not, there is still a dual-camera setup. The OnePlus 5T is seemingly featuring two camera lens with the same 27mm focal length. you will find a 16MP f/1.7 + a 20MP f/1.7 cameras on the back, with the 20MP snapper tuned for dim light scenarios and the other one shooting in more favorable scenes. The 20MP shooter is also capturing depth information for the on-board Portrait mode. That's pretty much similar the setup of the Oppo R11s/R11s Plus which are expected to donate their general design and most hardware features to OnePlus 5T's cause. Thus,

The two devices get compared in different lighting conditions and scenarios, with the OnePlus 5T showcasing the differences in overall performance.

This scene was shot at 1100 lux (studio light). The OnePlus 5T shot at ISO 125, while the OnePlus 5 - ISO 200.

This scene was shot at 3 lux, which is a pretty dim lighting. Hence, the OnePlus 5T cranked up the light sensitivity to ISO3200, whereas the OnePlus 5 had to go as high as ISO5000 do produce a shot.

The main 16MP camera of the OnePlus 5T remained the default automatic choice down to 4 lux of light, but after dialing the lighting down a notch to 3 lux, the OnePlus 5T decided to use its secondary unit.

It seems that the Portrait camera mode on the OnePlus 5T is not much better than its predecessor. While the size of the image prevents us from checking ourselevs, hause.de reports that the camera still struggles with the separation of complex subjects against a complex background, which is a common problem with many similarly-equipped phones still.

The OnePlus 5T is lacking a dedicated optical lens, but it would seem that the digital one is doing a rather good job at keeping pace with the OnePlus 5's optics.

In this scene, the OnePlus 5T's digital zoom gets sized up against the OnePlus 5's telephoto camera, Huawei Mate 10 Pro's digital zoom, and lastly, the Galaxy Note 8's 2x telephoto zoom.
