Apparent Galaxy A8+ (2018) successor receives FCC certification

Listed as the SM-A750FN, the model number indicates that the smartphone could be a direct successor to this year’s Galaxy A8+. While the FCC listing in question unsurprisingly lacks any details regarding the internal specifications, this is not the first time the SM-A750FN model number has appeared. In fact, back in late July, the device made a benchmarking appearance which revealed the presence of Samsung’s Exynos 7885 processor and 4GB of RAM. Additionally, Android 8.0 Oreo was pre-installed. However, considering the recent Android 9 Pie release, the smartphone will presumably be updated ahead of its official unveiling.

Due to the rather early FCC appearance, it seems as though the South Korean giant may have an earlier release planned this year. At this point, no specifics have been provided, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see an announcement take place in November. After all, this would most likely be followed by an early December release which would allow Samsung to take advantage of the holiday season.

Ultimately, this is purely speculation for now. However, if the device does turn out to be the successor to this year’s Galaxy A8+, it’ll remain to be seen what naming scheme Samsung opts for. After all, while the logical move would be to call it the Galaxy A8+ (2019), a recent trademark suggested that it could be called the Galaxy A90.
