Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 2 rumored to be coming October 8th for developers
A leaked screenshot of Cortana doing her thing in Polish is helping fan the speculative fires about the GDR2 update for Windows Phone 8.1.  A tweet from a contributor to a Polish Windows Phone blog indicates that on October 8th, the update will start rolling out to Preview for Developers. Among the changes expected are a mobile data toggle switch for the Action Center, support for the Snapdragon 805 processor, and the spreading of the Alpha version of Cortana to more countries. The update is also rumored to include support for a 2K resolution screen.

While the Developer Preview version of the update might be released in October, the carrier version of Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 might not see the light of day until next year. Those Windows Phone 8.1 users in regions where Cortana is not yet available are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that they will be getting the personal assistant with the upcoming update.

It's funny how nobody cares about WP anymore it's all about Apple and Samsung.

You are incorrect in your assumption. I care about WP, as do many others.

I also care very little for Samsung and Apple.

What I think he means is that over 70%+ of people (at least in the US) care about both Apple and Samsung and less than 3.5% care about WP.

About the same ratio as the World's population compared to that of the US. Can we make the same assumption about it's relevance...?

What defending? You're so bitter because he's a fan of Samsung that you bring it up.
Come on, dude. You know the majority of people do care about Apple and Samsung, and a very small population in comparison care about WP.

Oh my bad there's 10 of you who care. Hey if you can get 10 more you'll have the same number of blackberry users. Way to go WP!

WP made you to comment here. You care? Hate/love or like/dislike that is another point. You care that is point here. Every one knows majority will go with Apple and Samsung. No need to tell each and every time. What you came up with something new? What a great finding!

Android and iOS care very much about WP so much that they are imitating its Flat design language.

You're such a lonely, pathetic troll.

Don't equate WP and BlackBerry users to sum total of people who care about you, DerekJeter.

So is it similar to how nobody on this planet cares for you? Is that why you troll on a tech site, to get some reckoning, which is ZERO in real life?

Nice to see the updates for WP are rolling along smoothly. These updates add more features to WP, making it better and better each time.

sadly I have to say the updates are NOT running smoothly. When an update is available to the public(not developer preview) it should roll out to all phones within a month. THAT'S running smoothly, sick of the carriers and OEMS taking 50 million years to try and force you to buy a new phone. I have the ATIV SE and it still hasnt officially received 8.1

I still dont know why people still buy carrier phones .. Its damn expensive and they try to screw you at every turn...

1. not everyone can afford to drop a car pymt or mortgage pymt each time a new phone comes out. it's not a necessity but a want. 2. even unlocked WPs can and do take as long as carrier locked phones to update.

Blame the people who make ATIV hardware, my 1520 got the Cyan update first before any other phone in a short wait, even the 930 on Verizon did not get Cyan yet, plus I like developer preview, I get the OS updates early when Microsoft release it, so far I have been lucky that every Developer Preview update I got did not harm my phone in any way and it all run smooth.....You should of got a 1520 its well taken care of when it comes to updates......and you wont have to wait forever like I did with my Galaxy Note 1, 2 and 3, Motorola Atrix, LG G2, and etc for a update for the OS

WP updates run a lot smoother than most. Microsoft has made the update available. It's not their fault carriers take forever. Buy unlocked or buy Lumias. You will get better updates.

blame oem not MS. Even android does not offer what you demand. How long has kitkat been out, an os 'optimized' for low end devices according to google. Yet dozens of phones do not have it and never will get it. You would have to root it.

Dev preview allows just that, dev preview. There is a huge difference between making it public, and making it available to carriers for testing.

People are very very very derp, you know how many times the company i work for gets complaints that we dont know their gmail password. With the thought, the mentality, to literally state. "You sold the phone you should take care of it no matter what..." this includes 3rd party apps. This is why carriers take 1-6months to test the darn thing, because people are STUPID. And if something goes wrong it is the carriers fault.

Hell even now you blame MS, when in fact it is Samsung and the carrier. Samsung can opt for windows to do independent updates outside of carrier lock.

The only reason why apple can do this is because they are the SOLE owner of the OS/hardware, SOLE.

the way it is persented, imo as you can see how most took it too, is that you were blamming MS and not the OEM. Truly it sounds like both. But when you have carrier software, you will get carrier delays. Sorry for the rant that fell upon you just had a derp interaction at work.
