Prepaid iPhone now available from Cricket
Just as promised last month, Cricket began selling a prepaid iPhone 4S on June 22nd. The iPhone 4S is available in 8GB or 16GB for $399.99 and $499.99 respectively. As far as service, the device is paired with a $55 no-contract plan complete with unlimited calls, texts, and web. The web speed is throttled down after 2.3GB of data though.

Apparently initial reception was very good. Cricket said in a statement to CNet, that there was a buzz around the handset and some stores had customers lined up outside prior to opening their doors for the day. The iPhone 4S can now be found at Cricket company-owned stores and select authorized dealers.

Yes, the iPhone is NOT tri-band ready... no AWS CDMA. Only get this phone on Cricket if you are in a PCS-band CDMA Cricket market. The same still goes for C-Spire Wireless, also, last I checked... at least, I think C-Spire has some AWS markets that don't support their iPhone, either. C-Spire users might want to double-check that before taking my word for it... just sayin'...

UUUMMM If you notice there is a typo in this article. The 4S is ONLY available in 16GB and the 8GB version is the IPhone 4. Very tricky indeed cricket!

Funny things is, they can't offer the device everywhere, only in selected markets.
