Nokia's former sales boss joins Huawei
Colin Giles, the former head of sales at Nokia, has joined Chinese handset manufacturer Huawei. Giles new title is Executive Vice President, Huawei Consumer Business Group and he just picked up the key to the executive washroom on Monday when he joined his new employer. Giles stengths are said to be in handset brand marketing, sales and channel development, and he will be called upon to extend Huawei's name visibility in the U.S.

According to researchers Strategy Analytics and IDC, Huawei had the fourth highest market share among global smartphone manufacturers in the first quarter. One of the company's trademarks is its desire to push the envelope. The Huawei Ascend Mate launched with a then record 6.3 inch screen while at 6.18mm thin, the recently launched Huawei Ascend P2 is the slimmest smartphone currently available.

"I am delighted to join Huawei at such an exciting time in the development of Huawei’s consumer brand. Over the last couple of years, the company has already made big strides in the global marketplace with the introduction of flagship products that quickly became the talk of the town, like the world’s slimmest smartphone Ascend P6 launched just weeks ago. I look forward to working closely with everyone in the Consumer Business Group to continue to ‘Make it Possible’ for smartphone users worldwide."-Colin Giles, Executive Vice President, Huawei Consumer Business Group
