Nokia N9 MeeGo UI demoed on video
Nokia's Marketing Manager Jussi Mäkinen demonstrated first-hand all the swiping going on in this innovative smartphone UI on the newly announced Nokia N9.

The buttonless phone (at least in the front) needs just two taps to unlock the screen, and is full to the gills with gesture-based navigation. Alas, there doesn't seem to be full Adobe Flash support in the browser for now.

MeeGo 1.2 "Harmattan" is what's allowing all this to happen, plus multitasking seems to be taken to the next level; you can pinch to show either 4 or 9 of your active app icons, and, overall, there are some neat little tricks that we haven't seen anywhere yet. Needless to say, the Nokia N9 is coming equipped with that NFC-enabled Angry Birds Magic time-waster.

The date says January 29, could there be anything different now with the phone?

Whaaattt??????This piece of s**t is supposed to be the new "game changer".
Hahahahahaha!!!!!????
1st of all its has a single core processor,in todays standards quad core would be groundbreaking or at least 1,5 ghz dual core would wishfull, but this is a no go???
720p recording is at least a 1 year old novelty,i mean the specs are really bad.
But its not all about the specs, right.
2nd the UI is totally a rip of iOS and WP7,why do I say that??? The app panel's icons look very similar to iOS and those swipe thing is a WP7 feature at least a year old now.
Nokia get your act together, where's your WP7 device at least a dual core processor and a rear 3,2 MPX and 12MPX front facing camera???

it seems v.good but not as insiring as wp7 when wp7 was first demoed... i think they need to do a longer demo on how the phone works with txt msgs, browser, etc. i had nokia n900 - which is also a buttonless device - i was rather impressed and wondering why nokia didnt make a big push for it....

Too slow UI. They need to put in a faster graphics processor.

Why would I want this phone instead of an iPhone 4? Or iPhone 5... I wouldn't!

Well much better than Symbian and the phone looks great design wise, but is the UI good enough to compete?

It looks great. That multitasker is brilliant. Also the news feed. I love the idea of just swiping to get to the news feed multitasker and apps. Like Android but to a whole new level. I hope Nokia puts more effort into this. I am seriously torn between getting a Meego Nokia or a WP7 Nokia.
