First impressions on new features, delivered by the iPhone OS 3.1
iPhone OS 3.0 brought forth mandatory improvements and functions that made the iPhone an even better device. Apple cannot be caught napping though and has kept drudging on the operating system. The result is a new 3.1 beta version that was released to the developer community yesterday. Naturally, information on new features and improvements was bound to follow shortly.

What we consider the most interesting new aspect is the video editing update - you will be able to capture separately stored content, instead of rewriting original files. There are new APIs that allow development of programs with access to video files and their editing, so who knows, perhaps versions of Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas for the iPhone 3GS are behind the corner. Fingers crossed.

Other novelty features include voice control using Bluetooth, faster start up time of the operating system and vibration feedback when switching to icon rearrangement mode. Finally, there is an additional option in the Safari browser settings now, called „Fraud Protection”. We hope to see a comprehensive list of all new features soon ... and of course, to information on when iPhone OS 3.1 will become available for downloads.

apple & att need to stop being too hung up on new features and start working on what a smartphone sould be able to do that have already been in existence in other phones but lacking in the iphone. Try true multitasking capability, so what if i had to charge the the phone twice or 3 times a day but i want multiple apps running at the same time. I'm actually HTC fan & anti-att but just i thought i should give the iphone a shot after 2 yrs. I like it a lot but also real annoyed by the lack of true multitasking & dependence of itunes (coming from HTC & Nokia device). When apple will let consumers do whatever they want to the phone they paid for.

mutlitasking and flash are really the only thing that the iPhone is lacking. I expect more multitasking functions in the future, but Apple said that they don't want full multitasking in their phone.
