New Nokia Messaging for Symbian S60 5th Edition out ahead of schedule

Nokia Messaging hits Symbian S60 5th Edition ahead of schedule
The new version of Nokia Messaging, compatible with Symbian for S60 5th Edition, was expected in May. While the deadline of the final release remains unchanged, the developers have decided they can introduce a pre-release of the client and to get some valuable feedback.

The Symbian S60 5th Edition version is a brand new client, that has all functions of its predecessor, like push email delivery, IMAP subfolders and integration with common email providers. The touch screen, however, allows new features like ‘tap & hold’ contextual functionality and easier fingertip-style navigation. The new version also supports auto rotate, inbox message preview and displays address book contact photos in messages.

According to Nokia Beta Labs, the final version will not incorporate any major changes alongside of the pre-release, but the received feedback will prove useful towards future upgrades.
