Verizon to launch the Samsung Omnia II in mid-October
We presume Verizon customers are pretty anxious to finally get their hands on the hot Samsung Omnia II smartphone. And that’s normal, as we have already seen everything that could be seen about a yet unannounced phone, from leaked images to numerous launch timing speculations. Unfortunately, this news story isn’t about the phone’s official announcement, but about the latest rumor that reached our ears. And it goes like this: Verizon is to launch the Samsung Omnia II sometime in mid-October, equipped with Microsoft’s too well-known Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. Cheer up though, as the source seems to be sure that a ROM update to WM6.5 will follow after some time.

yay for AMOLED screen! Wondering why this device will not launch with 6.5, considering the TD2 will have the more updated OS?

Do you think this will be sold out and unavailable as quickly as the HTC Touch Pro 2, or faster?

This phone will launch with WiMO 6.5. The last phone with WiMo 6.1 for VZW was the TP2 and that will be upgradeable after Oct. 6th. VZW will be lauching about 20 new phones from here to December, most will be PDA and all will have Wi-Fi and all will be Global CDMA/GSM.
