Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available in Toronto a day early
The early release is exclusive to phones on contract through Bell and Virgin. The phones will be available at the Yonge and Dundas locations in Toronto at 1PM on December 7th. Best Buy Canada will also be getting in on the action at its Bay and Dundas location, once again only on a Bell or Virgin contract. According to the ad, Best Buy will also be offering a 50% discount on accessories for the the new handset.
As for the US crowd, while we anticipate a release around the same dates, we are all still waiting on an official announcement.

It's freaking retarded how everything about the phone is known except the launch date. Out of all things to keep quite about and Verizon chooses to make something that has no value to keep seceret unavailable information. Even so much so as to here Crome some most repasenitives that the marketing team is keeping this a super secerets and not even employees like it's the codes to the USA nuclear warheads to launch. All the while that so called brilliance consist of spending hundreds of millions on the droid commercials that are such a turnoff that I go out of my way to turn the channel when they are on. That stupid robotic "DROID" sound is so annoying that Thay need to get there money back and stop paying royalties to Lucas films for the right to say that. Just sell the phones and be upfront with the costumers and stop with the bells and wissles and smoke and mirrors and just let some of those phones sell them self. I know hat everybody I know don't get there phones from he commercials. Any way that's what grinds my gears right now.

its bad when the canadian carriers, which are known for being evil, is making the US ones look bad. Way to go VZ. everyday you delay the release date is a day you lose sales.

Except they're probably gaining more sales for their other new phones... the people who will buy the Nexus will still buy the Nexus when it comes out.

Here and reporting for duty.
Sadly, I sold my soul to Rogers a while back so this information is no use to me. My contract ends in February and if Rogers doesn't bring the GNex in January as promised I will switch over even though Bell kinda sucks where I live. I can't deal with my 8310 any more.

Considering most of the time, devices get released in the US at least a month before we see it in Canada, it's nice that we get something before the US once in a while. My current phone (HTC Desire Z) was released in Canada last November. It was available in the US and other countries a month earlier.
In any case, I'm quite happy with my current phone, so I have no intention of getting the Galaxy Nexus. The lack of a physical keyboard is also a reason I'm not getting it, but that's another story.

I wonder how Google feels about the way VZW is undercutting/sand bagging their flagship device? I understand that there are weird marketing strategies that equate into sales, but I can't figure out what this strategy VZW is pulling will equate to. I mean if I was on VZW and due for an upgrade I would be so frustrated with the games I would get the Rezound or Droid Razr with the VZW bloatware even though they are good phones. Whats happening with some customers on VZW is they are purchasing the Razr or Rezound and hoping to return it when the GN comes out but VZW is making sure that "return window" expires before the they release the GN. That's all good for VZW because they get the sell either way but for Google that's a sell they lose out on because it was the GN the customer was after in the first place and VZW denied them that option. If there was communication about the release date the customer would have a choice to make and more times than not the GN is going to be the choice which equates into less money for VZW.
Bottom line is VZW is a bunch of haters!

OMG!! This is ridiculous! Even CANTADA is getting the Galaxy Nexus before the US!! Verizon/Samsung/Google ..... you totally SUCK!
CANTADA, the country that CAN'T get almost everything else....
I want to know who is deliberatley delaying the Galaxy Nexus... cuz this HAS to be intentional at this point. Is Verizon dragging their feet trying to sell more razors or what?
I will remember this when it is time to renew my contract if that is the case!

They were not prepared enough. They wanted to look over the phone and change as much as they can and add as much as they can as for as they can meaning what google wood agree to than they also had to make sure it all worked(supposedly) (I really think the deall with motorola and google about to buy motorola kind of meant there is enough reason to delay this phone to not kill the sales of the bionic and those are just my paranoid left wing conspiracy thought of the day. (not crazy just exited for the phone)
