It's a sad day for Windows Mobile fans, although there will probably be much joy come October when Windows Mobile 6.5 launches. Palm announced their latest earnings and also shed ties with old platforms in favor of their WebOS. During a press call today, the veteran smartphone maker revealed that they will no longer make and sell smartphones powered by Windows Mobile. So it looks like the Palm Treo Pro is the last, and arguably one of the best, device to own if you want a taste of Microsoft. WebOS will be the future and the focus is improving the platform. Looking back, Palm really did make some memorable Treos that will now be a a part of history. Nonetheless, the future is still bright and expect WebOS to be a top contender in the competitive platform environment.

The reason the Treo Pro was the best was because it was manufactured by HTC! The centro and the 800w were also made by HTC, which is why those phones worked. The legacy Treo line was so bad becuase those were actually made by Palm.

Don't get me wrong though, I am glad palm was able to bounce back and take their manufacturing back. I hope that the Pre and Pixi do well with the WebOS to bring palm's market share up some. But I will always be a WM fan, but, unlike the apple and the iPhone, Palm could actually pay me to use their phone and I would be happy to do it. Apple... not so much.

It comes to preference. If you are a Mac enthusiast then hell yeah the iPhone is better. If you hate mac like all the people at anythingbutipod.com then you will more than likely choose a different model.
