Purported HTC Butterfly sequel shows up in AnTuTu, no UltraPixels in sight
Sadly, the J in the model number is a dead giveaway that the Butterfly sequel is being primed for Japan. This could also explain why HTC decided to leave the 4MP UltraPixel camera at home and pack a 13MP sensor for Japan - megapixel count is rather important for Japanese customers.
If the Butterfly 2 is for real, it's interesting how HTC has chosen to approach its design - will it be a spin on the HTC One and (M8)'s metal armor, or something different? It's too early to know and, unfortunately, we can only speculate whether the Butterfly 2 will reach the US market in some form, while Europe is pretty much a no-go - the original Butterfly never landed there.
Thanks for the tip!

Why do you can tell this one is better than the M8? The post even don't give us the picture or the design, it's just about the spec. Do design is not important anymore or what? lol

if this does well enough we might see a major camera upgrage for the m9

8MP or above UltraPixels will crush the competition. But it's very unlikely, for now.

And that would make the phone around 13 mm thick

Because then you would need a much larger sensor to make them Ultrapixels. Ultrapixels get their name for being larger than average, so they collect more light, and give you great low light results. If you doubled the resolution but kept the same sensor size, they would be just as small as other phones and would lose their Ultrapixel status. So you would need to compensate with a much larger sensor, making the phone thicker and the camera opening larger, which makes a phone ugly (Lumia 1020)

"..megapixel count is rather important for Japanese customers."
So it is with the rest of the world. 'Ultrapixels' is a lame excuse to be unique.

Just like the Butterfly S was better than the M7 last year imo as it had:
stereo speakers with three capacitive buttons
memory card slot
this new one should atleast have 3500mah battery
and now no 4mp camera even better, this will be better than m8 even if no metal. should be smaller also as screen size is still the same 5 inches as last year.
shame HTC doesnt bring the butterfly series to the uk

if this has a 5.2" display with capacitative keys with waterproofing, a 3000+ battery and an 13mp camera. ill be impressed

If this is their second half flagship, it really should have the SD805 instead of the 801 like you know for a fact Sony, LG, and Samsung will have in their second half flagships.
Suck T C doesn't fail to suck, again. No surprise here....
Cue the vwuser entrance with nothing worthwhile enough to dispute this fact.

Dude are you that dumb? Because you sounding and more dumb. You go on every HTC article you have time for and Bash them and you still have ideal what you are talking about. The butterfly is not a second half flagship it never was. The butterfly has alway been an Asia only phone. That is why the first butterfly was change to DNA.
And it funny have much you praise Samsung buy don't even own their phone. Dude get a life.

The Droid DNA was definitely a second half flagship, which is basically an Americanized butterfly.
I wouldn't call anyone dumb until you start sounding more coherent with your sentences...lol
