Palm Treo 500v for Europe
Share:
Palm announced the Treo 500v for Vodafon Europe. The interesting fact is that the device is the first Treo without touch-sensitive display, as it runs on Windows Mobile 6 Standard – the OS used in the Q9h/m, BlackJack and some other similar phones. The Treo 500v looks very similar to the Centro, that Sprint will offer, but the CDMA variant runs on Palm OS and has touch-sensitive display. Although the look is similar, the two devices will have completely different features and specifications. The Treo 500v is a tri-band GSM with UMTS (3G) for Europe, has 2-megapixel camera, QVGA 65k color display, microSD slot for memory and Stereo Bluetooth.
The Palm Treo 500v will be available from Vodafone from the 1st of October. We hope a variant with US-friendly frequencies will also appear but currently one is not announced.

This looks like HTC's design. At least with the earlier Treos there was some part that Palm had in the device, but with this one it seems they've given up and asked HTC to come up with a bog-standard WM Smartphone for them. Plus the softkeys are WAAY too big.
