Looks like an old Samsung that even my husband was unable to trash. Sturdy, basic, and workable. Not techy, but my daughter can text like crazy even on one like this.

speaking with an lg rep yesterday they are not releasing this until vzw takes the data plan off the lg vx8600. they are furious with vzw because they put the data requirment on that phone and it stopped selling almost immidately. So unless this phone doesnt require a data plan, lg is going to hold out any more flip phones being sold to vzw... i hope in this case lg wins so as a sales rep i dont sound foolish telling our paying customers to pay more for a standard flip!

VX8600? Did you mean VX8360? I agree that it is rediculous that VZW requires a data plan on one of their back bone and popular flip phones. Sales have plummited since

It is available via this website from a news file. I ran the update and my phone is working just fine and doesnt require me to root my droid.

In your defense, Number One, the 8600 would've required the data plan if it were released today. And it was a good phone too. Just imagine that all said by Patrick Stewart. Tee hee. :D

Ha i know right. This is like the 7th phone verizon had like this. They look just bout the same. Cheap. And that's exactly what they are and how they are. And they dont really have any upgrades compared to their predecessors. Why not keep the older gens which is the same thing?

With the exception of the hinge on the 8350 (which I think should have warranted a product recall, not a wimpy warranty replacement), I've been pretty pleased with the entire LG 8000 series. Just as long as they don't require the monthly data charge, there are plenty of LG customers who will bite.

I see everyone is hating on this phone but remember, not everyone likes Android and touch screens and high-tech bells and whistles. If you only supply the high-tech stuff then the people who want something basic won't be able to find what they like. What if they only had basic stuff, the tech-geeks would raise hell! I think Verizon supplies phones for all types of people. Even though I'm a smartphone user I pat Verizon on the back for keeping basic phones on their inventory.

This is just another reason why LG is dieing. Lame devices. You people who "want just a phone to talk on" are going to be phased out in the future. Get with the program, these companies HATE when they cell lame, voice-only plans. It doesn't make them any money. Data is where its at, and yes we all use voice, but data is just as important, if not more than voice.

On the contrary, cheap phones make indirect agents boatloads of money. The data plans and extras are required on the more expensive phones just to get anywhere in the black. And there's honestly nothing wrong with people who just want a phone to talk on.

I am in this group. I'm more interested in VoIP on my computer than cramming text and video into a miniature computer that I carry in my pocket. I am fairly new gadget savvy but I've never understood the fascination with thumb typing to friends when a voice call would accomplish the same thing. I'm patiently waiting for the Clout as I am advised by my local Verizon store that it is available without a data plan and has several features the Accolade does not.

I just came back from the Verizon store. The sales ass. (yes I typed that correctly) told me this phone was already out and was in the back room as it wasn't being pushed yet. If I was planning to purchase it he would get it. I told him I hadn't made my decision yet. He told me to go home and read about it on the internet and then come back when I was ready to buy. Needless to say I will NOT be going back to that store. Funny, they just opened that location. I don't see it staying open for long.

What Verizon store was this? I just called one in Cypress, CA and they have never even heard of the phone... most likely cuz they are 1. an idiot or 2. lying. lol
