BlackBerry Curve 8530 now on sale at Verizon for $99.99 with 2 year deal
With all of the Android love that Verizon has been showering over its legion of customers, the carrier needed to do something for those who aren't-as Jon Rubinstein would call them-techies. So for the non-techie, here is the BlackBerry Curve 8530. Yeah, it doesn't have Android under the hood, but it still is a smartphone with a 2.5 inch screen, 2MP camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and an optical trackball. It might be considered the Goldilocks smartphone-not too much, not too little...for the average guy it's just right. It also is the first full QWERTY enabled 'Berry to feature the BlackBerry 5.0 OS which should make it more intuitive than prior RIM models. The phone is available in two different colors, Black or Smoky Violet. Has the device caught anyone's eye yet?

The trackpad has to be better than the unreliable trackball.

Wasn't the Bold 9700 released prior to this one, making it the first Berry to run OS 5.0 with a full Qwerty? Anyway, coming from the 8330 to this one I was really let down by the keyboard and typing on. I was going to use my upgrade but after holding this phone and feeling the keypad, I just stuck with my old Curve, the most underated phone VZ or any of the other carriers have released in sometime. Not a good sequal in my opinion, regardless if it offers WiFi or not.

Sprint says release now in Q4. What does that mean for an actual release day? I am really looking forward to this being my first Blackberry and in the violet.
