Best apps for the schedule, groups and live streaming of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil
Today marks the opening of the world's most popular tournament, FIFA's World Cup 2014 edition, and the carnival spirit in Brazil has reached a crescendo mode, as the locals open against Croatia at 4PM Eastern. Whether you call it football or soccer, the event is unlikely to go unnoticed, be it only for the societal controversies and overspending that plagued the runup to the tournament, and have the Brazilian government on edge.

With the Sony Xperia Z2 being the official smartphone of the tournament, you can bet that there are plenty of apps out there that allow you to follow the World Cup on the go, if the games' time zone doesn't really fit your schedule. From the groups, through the schedules, to the brackets, player gossip, and even live streaming, there's something for everybody in those apps below, that will let you carry the World Cup excitement with you at all times. Take a peek, and give them a shot if you are a fan, regardless of whether you carry an Android, iOS or a Windows Phone device. Who do you think will take the trophy, by the way?

The Name of the Game: Football, and any non language related changes to that is disgraceful.

Don't be daft, most of the English-speaking world calls it soccer. Sorry about your luck.

Soccer/football is the most dishonest and boring game played by complete posers.

OPEN YOUR EYES, WORLD.

Yeah, look at at that game where they play the ball around with their hands and jump and fall on each other and kick each other's balls out and call it football, but for some silly reason, they call the most important match of the season in that sport the "super bowl". I mean this sport totally rocks. "Soccer" sucks.

I'm no supporter of American football either (I skateboard) but at least there is more action than soccer.

People watch soccer for 90+ minutes to see 2-3 goals max!

It's crazy and shows you the power of 'groupthink' (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink)

Football is a very nice sport, people watching 90+ minuts to see 2-3 goals max means it is worth it. I was not a big soccer fan until I played EA FIFA and PES for sometime and got the hang of this game. after that when I watched some quality football matches I suddendly found out how enjoyable is to watch them play the game that perfect! I enjoy watching good football games as much as I enjoy watching professional DOTA 2 live games! ( I made this comparision since DOTA 2 games are all action, usually +30 goals in 45 minuts)

What the heck is fun with skateboarding either? Just rollin' around without any definite objective and breaking some public facilities? Yeah it is not fun indeed.

13 seconds of action between erectile dysfunction commercial breaks. At least it's fitting.

AT LEAST in soccer action is constant for 45 minutes. Only thing that comes close to the fun spectating is _college_ football.

Football is the most graceful and interesting game played by Enthusiastic athletes all around the world. Disagree? Get out of this frikkin' planet, then.

What exactly makes it "the most graceful and interesting game"?

Every time I watch a game I see players falling over and acting like they got hurt. Then running over to the referee and b*tching.

No respect or sportsmanship whatsoever.

Well billions of football fans would disagree with you. Football is by far most popular sport in world :) american football has tiny amount of fans compared to beautiful game football lol

Well the drama, the enthusiasm, the soul, the beauty of the strategy, the mesmerizing technique and skills, the avid fans, and mentioning a few here.

Every time I watch Skateboarders I see players rolling over breaking their legs and went to the hospital, while skateboarding again a few weeks later before breaking their legs again.

Pointless and dollar wasting whatsoever.

Actually, I love it more than any other sport. American Football is so boring, I can put my foot on the TV while watching it.
