and more importantly this begins the wind down of iphone mania between announcement and launch.

I cant wait for my 1st iphone 4s customer to walk in so i can tell them " you know, for the same price you can get a much more powerful phone with a bigger screen and the same camera right?" But so far no one has shown up.

I would think your store policy would to be to only sway them away from a phone if it's a feature phone.

Lets just say I have no incentive to sell anyone an iphone.

As an AT&T customer considering both the 4S and the SGSII, this is not an accurate comparison between the devices.
Both are equally powerful with a slight performance edge going to the 4S. I would also say the 4S also has a better performing camera. The SGSII has a great looking saturated screen but the 4S has greater pixel density and superior resolution (due to screen size).
It really comes down to preference of OS, not hardware.

Finally someone who seems to understand that there is a huge difference between IOS and Android. So huge in fact, that you shouldn't even really compare them. A phone is really only as good as its OS.
Having owned 4 android phones(rooted all of them, installed custom roms/kernels/etc.) and an Iphone 4(jailbroken), I've come to this conclusion:
-If you like to tinker with your phone, customize things such as homescreens, ringtones, wallpapers, etc., then Android would be your best bet. However, from experience, Android has stability issues a lot of the time. Some might argue, but this is just from my experience.
-If you just want a phone that works without the many customizations that Android offers, then perhaps and Iphone would better suit you. While having one for about 6 months, I only had reboot it once. Everything worked perfectly, even with it being jailbroken.
Personally, I prefer Android but only because I like to mess with roms/kernels/etc. If I didn't care about that, I would probably go with an Iphone because of its stability. Hopefully ICS will run much smoother when it's released.

Hmm.. are you kidding me? According to Phone Arena, the 4S processor is only running at 800MHz and it only has 512Mb of ram, while the SGSII on the other hand has a processor speed of 1.2GHz and has 1Gb of ram which is nearly twice the ram of the 4S. That is definitely not the same hardware. Not to mention the SGSII is slimmer overall and it is rocking Gorilla Glass unlike the brittle crappy glass on the iPhone that cracks very easily if dropped. So I beg to differ when you say that it really comes down to preference of OS. You should do more reading before making a decision if you are still unsure. I have added the breakdown article below. Good luck with your future purchase.
By the way I love my SGSII. :)

You sound like an idiot and also a bad salesman. I guess you will be getting a lot of chargebacks when all the people you talk into android come back and swap them out for iPhones.

You're not right sometimes.
But, that's just my take.

Why are you guys hating so much?!?! I really don't get it because although I don't really like Android (and I'm very familiar with Android), I don't have a problem with other people using it.
With the same price, you can get a phone with a bigger screen, the same megapixel count (not the same camera), and possibly a more powerful phone (when the Droid Razr and Prime release, but thats in the future.)
If you prefer giant screens and designing your homescreens and "tweaking" as you guys like to say, then that's great. Tweak all you damn want, lol. But I'm going to enjoy my high build qulaity, well-designed and visually appealing OS and applications, all in probably one of the best designed hardware on any phone. If you guys are so happy with Android, why does it feel like iOS consumes your minds?
24. corporateJP posted on 14 Oct 2011, 12:51 3 1
You have a great point.
And, I would have to agree.
Some people worship their phones and operating systems, which is kind of sad when you really think about it.
I love my Androids, I don't dislike the iPhone.
I take issue with some Apple practices, although.

my biggest problem is their lack of corporate responsibility and all the hypocracy that it entails.
34. ZEUS.the.thunder.god posted on 14 Oct 2011, 15:19 0 1
true. here u go - corporate responsibility. and also apple makes gr8 products bt sgs-II is just better
36. Ivan6479 posted on 14 Oct 2011, 15:31 0 1
Your funny!! If your idea of so called high build quality is a phone made of brittle ass glass that cracks the second you drop the damn thing then by all means go by an iPhone otherwise get an Android which is built with Gorilla Glass, which is resistant to scratches so no screen protector is needed and there is no need to worry if the phone gets dropped. :)

What? Only $199.99?. The Iphone 4 in New Zealand is NZD$699 (about US$560) on a two year contract, which comes with 200mins, 2500txts and 500mb of data. Can someone tell the pricing of contracts in the US or any other part of the world? I'm interested to know the differenece.

Why deny someone the phone that they want because you don't like the iPhone 4S?
I'm sure ATT or Verizon would want you to sell the iPhone today.
Stop being a toll.
19. Yeeee posted on 14 Oct 2011, 12:40 0 0
Because some customers who really want it are gonna come and see its sold out and piss of reps for no reason. If they can sway someone they should
21. E.N. posted on 14 Oct 2011, 12:44 0 0
Are they swaying away people with the customer in mind? Or is it because of their personal interest in Android?
6. bucky posted on 14 Oct 2011, 09:28 8 5
im quite informed with android and will be selling the sgs2 for this phone.

First two At&t 4s (16gb) went out for only $43 each vs paying $199!!! Gotta Love the target trade-in program!!

Shameless self-promotion.
I wouldn't take issue, but lately your salespeople are overly aggressive and don't care to speak with you about anything "tech" after the initial sale.
Last time I was in the electronics department at Target, the guy followed me around asking assinign questions trying to get me to dump my service with my current carriers and switch to AT&T, which, in itself, is a "fail". Funny thing is, I was just walking by.

I just dropped my tbolt for the 4S. The quality of the product and the level to detail the iPhone provides cannot be match by android. I hope ICS is all people hope for and more.

To be fair, it's because the phone has a lot less in it. Any android is usually a stepping stone for another phone. Apple doesn't push new technology and android tries to be the first. In other words, it's Lancia vs any other car company. Lancia was the pioneer and other manufactures followed.

No sorry, once again I am not tempted to go back to the iphone. It would be a totally different story if it had a 4+ inch display. But I can't go back to a little 3.5 display, just can't do it. I don't care how crisp and great the screen resolution is, I would much rather have a big screen tv then a small hd one. Kinda beats the whole purpose in the end.
I already have a dual core processor on my phone, a very very powerful one at that. One that will be more powerful than up coming phones until possibly the SGS3 comes out. I have a huge 4.5 inch super amoled plus display that is gorgeous and easy to read, love browsing the web, love watching youtube videos, and i love texting on it.
2012 is near and we could have quad core android phones on the market and that will leave the iphone, once again in the dust.
And you know what? I will flat out say it, the biggest thing to come from the 4S, is not the phone itself. No it's just simply the IOS5 update. Finally getting a notification bar system and finally getting over the air upgrades. Those are the two biggest perks IMO coming from the new 4S. And you could have the 3GS or 4 and still enjoy it. Though I have heard reports that it is very laggy and buggy on the 3GS.
