AT&T to launch HP Veer 4G on May 15th
The pint-sized HP Veer 4G will be an AT&T exclusive when the carrier launches the webOS flavored device on May 15th. Available in either black or white, the HP Veer 4G will have a price tag of $99.99 with a signed 2-year pact.

No bigger than a credit card and no thicker than a deck of playing cards, the HP Veer 4G offers a 2.6 inch screen with resolution of  320 x 400. A slide-out portrait full-sized QWERTY keyboard makes typing easy despite the small size of the device. While there is not a front-facing camera on the handset, a 5MP shooter adorns the back. 512MB of RAM is on board while webOS 2.2 powers the phone. Under the hood is an 800MHz Qualcomm 7230 Snapdragon processor.

While the HP Veer 4G might not be large in stature, it certainly allows you to fit AT&T's 4G pipeline in your pocket and is the opposite of those monolith style devices launched lately with 4.3 inch screens. If you have a hard time holding on to those bigger handsets, the HP Veer 4G might just be your size.

Oh HP... You can't come out with an mid-range smartphone and expect folks to go nuts over your OS. Didn't work for RIM and they had the Blackberry name behind it...

How much off-contract?

While it seems they are going all in on their tablet, which has great specs, it just doesn't seem they are giving the phone division as much focus. It is like an after thought.

i feel that an alternative like this to all the 4.3 inch monster phones will sell well, not everyone wants such a large phone

I cant believe they did not include a flash for the camera=Fail. Even the Pixi has one. That's a must for me now. Guess ill be sticking with my Pre for a good while. Hopefully something I really like is avail when I can upgrade with Sprint.

This article belongs in the AT&T category, but I couldn't find it there.
