Sony Xperia U makes an entrance: stylish phone with a 3.5
The Sony Xperia U has arrived and it’s just as gorgeous as the Xperia S - it keeps the same design language with the illuminated bar at the bottom, but it’s smaller - it comes with a 3.5-inch FWVGA Reality display with Mobile Bravia technology for juiced up color vibrancy. It still features a powerful 1GHz dual-core processor, though.

The Xperia U’s transparent illuminated bar is probably its biggest design highlight - it changes in color to match the color of displayed pictures which is a neat idea. The handset comes in a black and white versions with a matte finish and interchangeable colors of the bottom front plate (you can switch to pink and yellow).

On the back, there's a 5-megapixel camera capable of capturing 720p HD videos. It features fast capture so you go from the lock screen to taking a picture in under 2 seconds.

The Xperia U comes with Gingerbread (will be updated to ICS later on), but you wouldn’t recognize that as it’s heavily skinned. Sony brings a new album app, new video and music players underlining its . It also adds handy application access direct straight from the lock screen. One of the biggest highlights of the Sony Xperia U is its sound. The device comes with "xLoud" - a sound processing technology that will improve what you hear, and also 3D surround sound.

Finally, Sony confirmed that the Xperia U will be shipping globally in the middle of Q2 2012.

but Galaxy S is more expensive. Galaxy ace is cheaper because it looks cheap. plus Samsung is not gonna update it to the next Android OS.

Only negative with Sony products is that they are over priced, that sure is big issue in countries like India where we have to buy sim-free mobiles at full price..

3.5" is so 2007; it's like having one of those tiNy phones you hook up to iToones.

Nice size finally, but with this Handroid is so two thousand-and-late...

but there is still no low-end 3.5 inch dual core smartphone until this. iPhone 4S is 3.5 inch dual core but it's expensive to compete with a low end phone.

Sony phones, I think, as I have observed lately, have the same prices as Samsung. Except that Samsung phones, on my opinion, look cheap (it's like an imitation of iPhone). Their phones usually have poor screen resolution compared to Sony.

i don't' see innovation in this...wow u can switch color caps woohoooo you're so stylish lol and how fast is that little novelty light gonna run down ur battery? this is sad u would think they'd show something better or atleast have it preloaded with ICS.
