Skype 2.0 for the iPhone brings forth free Skype-to-Skype calls over 3G

Although Fring could still be the champ across a range of mobile platforms with its free video chat offering, Skype is slowly moving up the ladder to keep its own iPhone app competitive among the crop. Skype 2.0.0 for the iPhone is now available for the taking which enables users to place Skype-to-Skype calls over a 3G connection. However, the fun is short lived because there will most likely be a small monthly fee attached to it starting some time in September. It's going to be interesting how this will affect things like Fring's offering, but there is no concrete information regarding this new monthly fee. In addition, there are some other minor new features like an enhanced call quality indicator, improved start-up time, and fast access to the dial pad from the iPhone home screen. As much as this sought out feature is finally available, we're sure people out there will be crossing their fingers hoping that monthly fee will disappear shortly.

I believe the Iphone uses 2g for phone calls and 3g for data, that's how they can have a data session on a call at the same time
