Latest Facebook update requires Froyo or above
Share:
Android owners have yet another Facebook update available to them starting today. The update brings the app up to version 1.9.7 and interestingly, it now only works on Android 2.2 and above. It’s safe to say that the majority of devices meet that requirement, but maybe Facebook will finally speed things up by dropping support for ancient devices.
The changelog notes that the app login and navigation should be much faster as well as some new messaging features that allow you to flip back and forth between conversations. If you have an Android device running Froyo or above and are ready to speed up your Facebook experience, head on over to the Google Play store to grab this free update.

I got fooled by an earlier update. It was fast the first time I launched it and thought it was an improvement. Then after a few days, it slowed down significantly. Try it out for a couple of days and let us know if you still think it is noticeably faster than before.

well it's always been steadily improving but it's just been buggy.

Btw only 5.4% of Android phones run anything older than Froyo.
