HP CTO demonstrates how you can use the TouchPad for home control

The HP TouchPad might not yet be released, but with the summer months almost here, it’s approaching launch and getting more and more coverage. Now, it’s HP’s CTO Phil McKinney who demonstrated the tablet’s wireless home control capabilities by managing a lamp, fan and monitoring the temperature at Maker Fair 2011. As practical as it all sounds, it’s not very likely that compatible hackable home equipment will be in place for this exact feature of the TouchPad at launch.
We have no further details about the home control and automation capabilities of the tablet, but we do know that it has already been listed as “coming soon” on BestBuy, while over at WalMart it carried a price tag of $599 for the 32 gig model. Will the wonders of webOS 3.0 lure you into purchasing HP’s slate? Sound off in the comments below.
