New iPad to have Face ID and Animoji, developer shares proof
Your days of sadly looking at your iPad, hoping to some day be able to amuse your friends by sending them an animated character that slightly resembles you, are almost over! That is, at least, if a Twitter post by Steve Troughton-Smith (a well-known iOS focused developer) is to be believed.

According to him, a recent change in Apple's AvatarKit, the software behind their infamous Animoji and Memoji, now allows the support of bigger screens like the ones on the iPad. This was part of the latest iOS 12 beta, recently distributed to developers.

This added support for Animoji means that the new generation of iPads will have the necessary TrueDepth camera hardware to support Face ID, Animoji and Memoji.

Other features, that could logically trickle down from the iPhone X, are gestures like swiping up to get to the home screen. That means Apple tablets are next in line to part with the iconic home button. And while some users might miss it, that means thinner bezels and a bigger screen-to-body ratio, which seems to be what all manufacturers are going after these days.

If all the assumptions are true, users would be able to enjoy the new additions to the iPad family this fall, when the refreshed line-up of Apple products is expected to be announced and later hit the market.
