Walmart quietly rolls out the free on-contract Sharp FX Plus
Already, we know that the messaging oriented Sharp FX from last year is moving up to the big leagues this time around with the updated Sharp FX Plus for AT&T, but we’ve been in the dark in regards to its pricing and availability.

Fortunately, big box retailer Walmart is quietly rolling out this handset, and it’s now available for purchase via their web site for free with a 2-year agreement.  For the price, you’re getting an Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone that features a 3.2” touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, and a microSD card slot.

Naturally, it specs won’t catch the eyes of power users, but it might fancy those primarily into text messaging thanks to its landscape style QWERTY keyboard. Still, if you’re not all about getting things with a contract, you can always choose to buy it outright for $349.99.

It's a low-cost phone marketed for people who want a smartphone but can't afford the more elaborate ones. Not meant to be a sidekick or anything like that.
