Older, but easy to use phone

Lostness has owned it for more than one year before publishing this review

The V177 was my first cell, and after five years I still use it. It is an easy to use, comfortable phone with a good display, call quality and reception. It is also durable, and the clamshell design protects the screen while the phone is in your pocket. While it does not have all the 'comforts' of a modern phone, it is an excellent utility phone. For anyone who is looking for a cell phone just to use as a phone (and occasional text tool), this was, and still is, a good choice.

Build quality 10/10 Durable, comfortable, easy to hold, easy to open.
Reception 9/10 Good reception all around, even indoors.
Call quality 9/10 Generally good all-around quality. Clear, though not stellar.
Internet 4/10 Dated browser design is difficult to use, does not display 'web-pages'
Multimedia 4/10 Some games and utilities, but no options for expanding. No MP3 or video or photos.
Camera 1/10 No camera
UI speed 1/10
Everyday usage 8/10
Text input 8/10
Display 9/10 Nice display. For utility phone large, clear. Displays well in bright light conditions. Does not glare.
Battery 10/10 Long lasting battery that, even after five years, holds charge well. Charges a bit slow, but this is made up for by how long charge lasts

  • Good utility phone for someone who does not want all the bells and whistles.
