NES-style graphics? Chiptune soundtrack? Nowadays, it's much easier to enjoy nostalgic games like P1XL's Super Splatform on your mobile device, instead of buying an ancient console from eBay and figuring out how to make it work with your HDTV. Apart from its unmistakeable retro charm, Super Splatform for iOS features 50 levels, 5 "unique" worlds and a pixel-perfect remake of the original Splatform for Commodore 64, made in 2002. The game will see you controlling a bouncy sphere-shaped fellow across Earth, the sky, space (zero gravity!), and an indescribable psychedelic dimension.

Other standouts include three control schemes, a soundtrack of 8 chiptune songs, bonus levels, Game Center support with individual leaderboards for every level, and support for iCade - the arcade cabinet for iPad.

Super Splatform costs $1.99 and supports all iOS devices running iOS 4.3 or later. The game is optimized for iPhone 5.

Yes, the original Splatform for the Commodore 64 was programmed in 2002, for that year's 1024 byte coding competition; it took first place. Check out csdb.dk and search for "splatform".
