Phone owned for

This phone is a pain in the neck, the ringer is broke after 6 months.  I cant hear incoming calls because I never hear the ringer.  Nextel blows too, the service is for crap too.  I'm always losing calls in the middle of calls.  Piece of JUNK!  I don't know who or what poor slobs this phone was designed for but I work in an industrial workplace with a Nextel repeater tower on site and I still don't get the greatest reception.  I've babied and coddled this *rugged* phone, even bought an expensive padded phone case for it and it's just plain unreliable.  Don't waste your hard earned cash on this POS.

Nice phone. Tough too.

Phone owned for

Kind of big and bulky, but comfortable to use.  Extremely tough phone.  Its suppost to be water resistant also.( i havent tested it).  Camera sucks on it.  The walkie talkie sounds better on this phone then any other one ive heard.   my phone accepted a 4gig sdhc mini card. (you have to format it).  I love it.

A clumbsy person's dream.

Phone owned for

This phone is tough, I've had it thrown full force at a wall from five feet away, dropped it a story up and still keeps ticking. Not for the media centric or those who want a flashy phone. It's big, bulky (compared to those with style) but it's meant for durability. The front screen likes to scratch, but only minor (it doesn't impeed on seeing the frontal display). I do warn you though, this bluetooth is extremely picky, nor have I gotten it to work with any stereo wireless headsets. The headset jack is extremely fragile, less than a milimeter of plastic holds the wire, so if you move around alot, expect it to break. Speak sound quality is excelent, standard phone features are excellent, extremely easy to use.
The good:
It's a tough phone, exceeds in standard operations, the camera is of decent quality for it's class (slightly better than the i860), microsd memory card, off network walkie (with compatible phones)
The bad:
the largest size MicroSD card accepted is 2 GB and throw SDHC out the window, it wont accept it.  The headset jack is extremely flimbsy (for a tough phone, why skimp out there)? Battery life is mediocre, i can get about 6 hours from a full charge playing music on speaker at near-loudest settings (stock battery)
What to consider, Nextel is natorious for "deadzones". If you want something to keep up with major abuse, this is your choice. But always consider of where you can get service.

Puppy & Rescue Tough

Phone owned for

Our puppy chewed the antenna off and then left it outside shortly after I got it and it still works great after 1 1/2 years. It's rugged enough to withstand rescue/fire calls and dropping without breaking. We live in a very rural area and I have great signal strength. The only problem I've had is with the camera phone. The pics are fair but I've had problems getting them to save. The bluetooth works good and sound is very clear. The phone is thick but I was looking for a durable phone and I haven't been disappointed. My son takes it hunting instead of taking his because he doesn't have to worry about damaging it.
