Upgrading from 3g to 4g contract question

Dumb question, I've some how not thought about this until now, I was planning on buying my next phone full price. Right now I have a droid3. If I buy 4g phone off contract is it going to mess with my contract to upgrade to 4g? I'm lucky enough to have unlimited data and I'd rather not lose that.

I did have a Droid Charge at one point for about a month but i dont have 4g sim card anymore, or ...

Probably half an idiot asking this but... any advice.

Any full retail price purchase will not affect anything on your current plan. You will still keep Unlimited Data and your upgrade date will stay intact.
