ZTE Optik Review
ZTE uses a 4000mAh internal battery on the Optik. The only rating they give is for up to 100 hours of standby time, but no usage time is given. In what we’d consider average tablet use the Optik would go at least a few days between charges, but of course that is going to vary based on your usage patterns. It should have plenty juice to get a user through a full day of usage without having to charge.

The ZTE Optik is cheap enough that it falls into the impulse purchase category, and users who drop $99 on the Optik will definitely get their money’s worth. It is a capable tablet that will perform all the basic tasks without issue, but if you’re expecting more than average from a tablet the Optik is not for you. The entry-level price point and quality hardware make the Optik a good everyday tablet, even at the $350 off-contract price for those who don’t want a data plan. It is not for the power users, but it is for the average Joe and that is exactly what Sprint and ZTE are going for.

Android 3.2
Build V55V1.1.0B08

ZTE Optik Review:

  • Good build quality
  • Fast processor with lots of memory
  • Cheap, both on and off contract

  • Sluggish performance at times
  • No 4G connectivity
  • Camera performance is lacking

I think you guys gave it too low of a rating, given that you admit that cameras dont really matter much on tablets. Anyway this is a pretty good tablet for the money, and has a great feel to it. Its not the best but it is more than adequate for most things you'll do. And if you're already a sprint customer and you receive an employee discount, you could possibly get it for just 99 cents on a 2 yr contract and minimum plan of 19.99/mo. I cant think of another carrier with a tablet offer even remotely that good.

Come on, most people don't have an employee discount so it wont be 99¢ on contract for them? But at $99 i think it's a great deal & if I were with Sprint I would most likely pick one up but I am not so I will not. The Pantech Element on AT&T is a better option with a bigger screen & 4G LTE for just a little more money is a better deal???

And YES you can get it for $0.99 through Sprint and I am not an employee. I am a small business who in fact just got an email from my Acct. Mgr. and was offered this deal. I took it to see what this is all about. The plans I think could be a little better. I went with the 3GB for $34.99 a mo. The options were:
3G 3GB plan - $34.99
3G 6GB plan - $49.99
3G 12GB plan - $79.99
I can always upgrade if I find that I am using more without a penalty.

I currently don't have a tablet and this might be a good one to learn on.

I have using this tablet for about 45 day. It is a nice tablet overall. It does the job well for typing and work related items. Remote control for windows computers. I am enjoying it right now. Has great feel for a screen keyboard and works great in any direction you grab it. You can type from all 4 sides which means that it is easy to grab and get aroud any position. Do not like the propritary charger plug end. Not smart. Should of stuck to usb mini or micro. Down fall my unit has as of yesterday shot the battery. Charged it 24 hours and got 41%. I have been using it for an hour and now have 23%. I hope this is not common. It is a nice unit for the money.
